Default Updated Car problem

Well a week ago I took my car into the dealership and they said I needed a new wastegate. They ordered one put it on today, now I have to bring it back again next week for a new vac line. I have a feeling this aint going to be the only time I take it back either. I feel they are guessing and hoping for the best. As long as I keep getting new parts for free that is fine, but the drive sucks because at my job we have two weeks off for the holidays and now I got to bring my car back over here on my days off.

can anyone give me an explaination of why they would possibly put a new wastegate and now need a new vac line? i know i am not going to get a straight answer from the dealership, so any thoughts would be great.

which vacuum line are they saying that they need to replace? i would start asking very specific questions about what's going on, it does sound like they're grasping at things hoping one fixes it.

I am at work now, but going to get it later. I only talked to the service lady so far. She said they only ordered the wastegate sylenoid and need the vac line for the wastegate. This may all be wrong as it is coming from a lady that didnt even know if a wastegate was on my car. I will go over to the dealership before they close and try to talk to the mechanic specifically. I used to like this dealership because my old mechanic, who left, was great. I will most likely not get the extended warranty because I know with my car going in and out they would try to make me pay my deductible over and over. I will let you know as soon as I find something out. Thanks for the input.

bad news, got the car back and i have come to realization that the mechanic has no clue about whats going. he is going to replace the vac line next week, thinking that they are getting pinched. it is not even cold here, but the car is only boosting 5 in all gears but 5th. in 5th the car is boosting about 7 or 8. i brought it there because of a noise, well he said it was mostlikely a loose bolt in the dash from when someone installed the boost gauge. when i told him the boost gauge is factory he didnt even know that. sorry to ramble, i am just not happy with these people at this point any ideasor advice would be great. if this does not get fixed, i am going to make a road trip to shreveport to get them to check it out.

i asked if it could be my mopar bov, he said no because he said i would hear it leak and thats the same for the wastegate. hedidnt even know about why my mopar cai went into the front fender, he said he had to look for it.

overall, the car still feels powerful as ever, just not showing on boost. i just would think itwould show more than 5 to 7.

If the car still feels the same on the butt-dyno, then it could be the boost guage itself. What kind of Vac numbers are you seeing? Does the needle sit at 0 when it is off?

I feel your pain with the venting. I guess turbos where not included in the yearly certification that the mechanics undergo, for I have had similar results with dealerships in my area. It took 3 different visits for one of them to determine that they put my sway bar on upside down after replacing the steering rack brace, and that was only after i told them that is what I thought it the noise was....

yeah, the only thing that worries me is that i am less than 3000 miles away from factory warranty disappearing. i am keeping all paperwork and if i am not happy with the work i am bringing it back over and over so i have away to show they never fixed my problem.

can anyone give me advice on checking for boost leaks?

well this morning i started looking over everything. i used a diagram someone posted up at one time of all the turbo/intercooler connections. i checked three out of about five and they are loose. i am going to print out the diagram for the mechanic and tell him these are the connections he needs to check. also, i noticed this morning that the boost gauge is resting at vac 10 instead of 0. so another problem, the mechanic may just be miss guided by this. so i called and told him to order a boost gauge right away and he is going to call me back on this. it is sad that i have to do the research to get my car fixed at a dealership. i just want to say thanks to everyone on here, because i would be even more lost than i am now.
