Hey everyone my name is Julian and I want to get an SRT-4 I sort of did my research and my mind is set on the SRT-4. I have a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT right now but I am trading it in and I know the 'stealer' is going to give me less than what it's worth. My question is:Is the 2004 SRT-4 and 2005 SRT-4 different? ' engine wise ' I did some research and they both are sort of the same. I like the Blue SRT-4 but, it's an 04 and I sort of want to get an 05... Anyone know the differnece between 04 and 05? Thanks.

 

The 05's are faster, especially the red ones !!! No, I think they are the same car, the ecu in the 05 is a bit different which only affects the car when you start buying stage kits. The 05 Stage 1 kit has to be an 05 Stage 1 ecu.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you to be sure and stay away from the 03's. They were pretty weak compared to the 04's and 05's.

sure..we're weaker. that's why we have the same dyno numbers and run just as fast at the track stock. i actually always suggest to people that they get an 03. they're just as good as the 04/05's, have more factory freaks, and less problems overall PLUS they're cheaper because of the attitude that you saw above. people look at 03's as somehow inferior when they're not, so you can get them for less money and you have just as good if not better of a car.

 

the 04s and 05s are basically the same vehicle. they both have the bigger injectors. then 03 i coulda have sworn they both had the stage 1 ecu with it, could but just 05 but i thought it was 04 and 05

 

Well I was really looking @ the 04 and 05's but I sort of like the 05's more just because they we're under rated and I already checked one out @ the Dodge Dealership but didn't test drive it.[:@]I really like the Blue but if they're different from the engine I will have to go with the 05's... neither the 04 or 05 have a stage 1 with it. those years have the injectors that come with a s1 for a 03 kit, but not the ecu.

 

The 03's had a habit of suffering from fuel starvation at high RPMs, hence the bigger injectors on the 04/05 models.....with the 03 Stage 1 kit you get injectors AND the PCM, with the 04/05 Stage 1 you get the PCM only since DCX was nice enough to put the bigger injectors on for you............

since when? keep telling yourself that's why 04's are better and us 03 owners will just sit back and laugh

 

When i purchased my 04 car, it came w/ a list of improvments, over the previous yr. model, like LSD(a 700$ mod.),bigger axles,,passenger grab handles, bigger injectors,sunroof,trick pedals, E-Blue etc:,all for almost the same price, why would you not wanna go for a newer one?? just do a search on the "other" forum & compare for yourself.....it appears that the 03's & 05's have had thier own share of issues,like broken axles(03's),chaffed wiring under the clutch (03 & some 04's, although mine was rerouted at the factory) tuneability problems(05's), bent valves(05's), noisy valvetrains(05's).,........don't get me wrong, there has been issues w/ some 04 models also, but the #'s seemed skewed towards the other yrs. IMO. ________5TOEZ________

 

i'm a proud red 04' owner and i don't think there's any diff between 03 04 and 05s, just the injectors.Plus I've heard 03 are much better.....but I still think there's no diff.
