Royal Purple uses a different chemistry than most. They are one of only a handful of marketers using Moly in their oil. Moly is a solid, specifically banned by Cummins, due to excessive valve train wear.

If a manufacturer bans a certain type of oil they do it because they feel it could cause engine problems in their engines, so, that's bad. I'd stay with Mobil 1, Pennzoil, Castrol or Valvoline if that is true about Royal Purple.

Over at the BiTOG while Mobil1 is not as popular as it once was, Royal Purple is king of hit and miss for good used oil analysis. I personally use Amsoil but for what you listed I would recommend the Mobil1 without hesitation. Unless you do Long Oil Drains stick with regular Mobil1 not EP as the extras will not help protect your engine in the short term (less than 5000 miles) so it would just be a waste of money with a possible small performance loss in the oil.

Yup, in 3 years, no leaks, no oil burning, just the normal oil blow by caught by the oil catch can.....Mobil-1 at Wally World is the best (and least costly) way to go...........
