There are several members on here that have the painful experience of putting on a BOV.....just flip back a few pages....otherwise, you're looking at a "flat labor rate" of $111.00 at a Dodge dealer, like I went to (but they did the job right, the first time, to their credit)[sm=smiley5.gif]

a 10mm wrench and copper rtv is all you need for the install.

first off....tie the wrench to your wrist with a string. i promise you that you'll drop it at least once trying to get at the 3rd bolt. this will save a lot of headache.

there are only 3 bolts to remove, two are pretty straight forward, but the 3rd is a pain. the best way to get at it is to reach under the turbo and remove it that way. once the stock surge valve is off, put the bov with the copper rtv on it on the surge vale and put it back on. be sure to tighten the bolts completly or you'll get a leak. that's really it...oh and remember to re-attach the pink like when you're done.

I highly recommend that anyone who gets the Mopar BOV installs it themselves. There have been far too many dealership f'ups on installing them.

I recommend that you get yourself a 10mm ratcheting box end wrench, it will cut the whole installation time in half. I also highly recommend that you get a tube of Permatex Hylomar Gasket Dressing & Flange Sealant ($2.99-$3.99 at Auto Zone) to eliminate the possibility of the boost leaks that some have encountered.

Tools needed:
10mm open end wrench
long flat head screw driver
Tools recommended:
10mm ratcheting box end wrench
Permatex Hylomar Gasket Dressing & Flange Sealant
Magnetic pick up tool (in case you happen to drop any tools or parts)

First read over the supplied instructions at least twice to make sure you understand all the details, especially the little important ones. Follow the instructions well. You do not need to remove the battery (disconnect the battery negative cable though), but it will allow you more room in which to work. After you get the intake tube out of the way you will need to make a mental note of the direction in which the pink vacuum line is pointing and then disconnect it. Two of the bolts will be easy to remove, but then there's that one rotten little bastard. To get to it you will need to reach from the passenger side between the engine and the firewall and come up from under the turbo/exhaust (so don't do this until everything is very cooled off). I highly recommend the use of the 10mm ratcheting box end for the removal of all 3 bolts, especially this one (it will seemingly save your life, trust me). As you slowly remove the valve, remember the direction in which the connection for the pink vacuum line is facing. Now your through the easy part, now it's time to put it all back together with the BOV in the mix.

Take the gasket that comes with the BOV and spread a very thin and even coat of the Permatex Hylomar on both sides of the gasket. Now place the gasket onto the BOV on the flat side, not the side with the indentation, and align the C shaped holes. The gasket will stay firmly in place and stick to the BOV like glue. As the instructions say, you may need to gently pry the turbo oil line to allow room enough for the new BOV assembly. I had to do this with mine to both get it in place and to fit the 3rd hard bolt in place as well. Now comes one of the two really fun parts, aligning everything properly and putting it in place as one whole unit. You will need to align the C shaped hole in the BOV/gasket with the C shaped opening in the turbo housing (it should be towards the passenger side). The gasket side of the BOV goes against the turbo housing and the other side with the hole in the center goes toward/against the valve (don't forget to position it the same direction it was facing when you removed it). It is best to keep the assembly together with the new longer hard 3rd bolt that came with the BOV and to start with putting it in first if possible. I cannot stress enough how important it is that you get everything aligned properly, because if you don't it won't work properly and you will have to take it apart and do it all over again. After you get the 3rd hard bolt started it gets 1,000X easier. Put in the other two new longer bolts before you tighten anything. If you can get the ratcheting box end on the hard bolt, use it (mine wouldn't fit until it was almost tight due to the turbo oil line). Then torque them all down good and snug like you would a valve cover bolt, do not over tighten them. After you get it torqued down it's a cake walk. Simply reconnect the pink vacuum line, put the intake tube back on and put the battery back in, if you even bothered to take it out, and your done. Go over everything several times at each and every step to make sure nothing was missed and always refer back to the manufacturers instructions.

Once everything has been rechecked and cleaned up, take it out and scare everyone into an early grave with it. NOTE: You WILL experience a severe drop in gas mileage with this mod, as you will find yourself constantly accelerating and letting off the gas just to hear the PSSSSHHHTTT!!!!! sound that it now makes.
