Default Mopar Stage 3

Mopar says its illegal to run the stage 2 and 3 on the street. Is it legal to run stage 1 and can you run the chiller factory upgrade. Tell me about other legal turbo upgrades that you can use the on the road.

if you read most after market goodies (by manufacturer or not) they all state "not street legal" or "off road use only"... much of this is do to emission std's and such... so I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless you live in a location where emission std's are a big issue...

The Stage 1 install directions and the sticker on the Stage 1 PCM both state "Not legal for use on pollution-controlled vehicles, or vehicles registered for highway use."

I can e-mail you a pix of the install directions with the statement on it, if you want.....you'll have to take my word on it being on the sticker of the PCM....I ain't taking that friggin air box off again unless I have to!![sm=smiley36.gif]

Well "MOST" police dont know about these cars. Look at the mufflerless system that we have, they think we took off the mufflers when we dont have them.

I wouldn't worry about the cops checking your Stage upgrades....God knows we have more things to worry about than that!!!

Your dealer might have some issues with them, don't let them bluff you into thinking if you mod your SRT-4, you void the warranty. Not true, and this item has been addressed many times. My dealer happily offered to install my "illegal" Stage 1 upgrade for $111.00. If my"illegal" mod causes any problems, EPA wise or DCX wise, I have the paperwork and a witness to support my side of the story.

BOTTOM LINE- It's a money thing....they want to sell more cars and they want to sell car parts, especially for the SRT-4!!! Just check eBay.....

Legally, anything that changes a vehicles emission and has not been CARB approved is technically illegal, but who is going to check. As long as your car passes any required emissions tests, your good to go. As far as any warranty concerns, click on this link and read post #4: https://dodgeforum.com/tm.asp?m=64522
