I just bought a 03 Srt-4 29kmi3days ago and today the check engine light came on, what should I do?

the code is P 0440

 

Check your gas cap. If the seal is bad you will get the above mentioned code I believe......

 

the cap seems fine, but I heard that shell 91 gas can do it and I got a tank of it the day i got it( 2days ago) so Im gonna reset my whole thing and see if it goes away.

 

Check your gas cap, your purge solenoid and obviously all of the vacuum lines for cracks......hope this helps

 

P0440-general Evap System Failure

i wouild bring it back to teh dealership that you bought it from. have them check that out. I'm not sure what woiuld cause that code. The only thing I can suggest is to clear the code and see if it comes back. It might have been a freak code and will never appear again.

 

it's usually caused by an improperly sealed gas cap. clear the code, it probably won't come back. if it does, then replace your gas cap.

 

I rock the Shell 91 (best option in my parts) and I have never thrown this code....
