Loaded the srt-4 onto the trailer behind my 02 dodge quad 1500 for a few friday night blasts last week end. Should have stayed home. 1st The oil pressure gague in my truck bottomed out. Yep. With only 69,234.5 miles on the clock. On the side of the interstate with craftmans in hand i droped the oil pan, and found the oil pump, screen and bolts laying in the bottom of the pan. Well like anyone else who wants to race i did the roadside repairs bolted and permatexed it up and took off( and yes i put new oil and a filter on it). 2nd Less the 20 miles down the road the oil gague bottomed out on zero again and every light in the dash lit up. Well i called my brother to come rescue me and roadside to tow my truck to the dealer. 3rd my bro is a chevy guy! He showed up in his ,99 Z71 4x4 grinning and makeing all kind of remarks. Smilling he looked at my truck and said "sweet". Ignoring that we hooked up the trailer with the srt-4 and went to the track. This was my first time since i have done numberous mods to it, raceing slicks, ported cylinder head, and a NS 150 nitro set up. I ran a strong 12.06 with out the gas first run out and backed it up with a 11.88 still with out the gas. This was on 101 octane race gas. My third run was a 11.05 with the funny gas in third and fourth gears. On the fourth run i used the gas in all four gears and ran a best to date 10.37@134.1mph. On the fifth run of the night when i was making the third to fourthchangewith the gas pedal in the carpet i was expecting the normal tire chirp, instead i felt this vibration in the shifter and heard a loud "boom" and saw sparks in the rearview mirror. I was over 100 mph when this happended.I rolled thru the traps posting a 14.56@101.67mph time with a blown car! When i stoped i saw that the whole bottom of the trans axle was gone, only an empty case i mean gears an all were complety blown out. After i got it home to the garage(and many remarks from my brother and sister in law)I pieced together what happended, the clutch and pressure plate that i had ordered from, i'll keep it a secret, had exploded with so much force it actually tore its way thru the trans axle. But what got me was there were pieces of the pressure plate sticking into the firewall behind the turbo! Luckly i was not hurt and all the srt-4 needs is a new tranny and some underhood touch up,to get back on the road. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND A TRANS BLANKET FOR ALL YOU HORSEPOWER FREAKE's WHO HOP UP AND DRIVE AN SRT-4!</P><edited><editID>andybuzz2u</editID><editDate>37979.8104976852</editDate></edited>

 

Holly crap. That tranny is suppose to be practically bullet proof.</P>

 

Yes, but thats only up to 300+ hp bullet proof, he's pushing alot more than that(probably double) for low 10's.

Being a racer you do know thats what caused "Big Daddy" Don Garlits a few toes, thats why he created the rear engine dragster. I'm sure you already have the stronger axle shafts, now you need a scatter shield as well as the blanket. Some days it just seems like life is out to get you in a big way, hopefully next time life will be on your side. But at least you have a second chance at it, so I guess life isn't out to get you too bad. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

Well i have added strobes, under car neon's, trashed the factory sound system for a dvd/tv/ x-box, put 18 inch enkei rs6 mags and dunlop sp sport 225/40zr tires, mopar BOV, mopar borla exhaust, tinted the windows(why can't dodge do that from the factory?) haha, no really though, I'm a big fan. I'm an SRT owner myself (slightly modded) and I've downloaded afew clips of you racing some crazy cars and getting some insane times.Any of youpeeps on this forum shouldsearch for her clips on Kazaa or something. My favorite is the 12.6 you pulled against the 12.9 Viper.</P>
