'3 season' tires
Was just wondering if anyone has driven their '3 season' g-force tires in the snow yet? Need to know how they will perform before I have to get towed out of a ditch in a couple months...............
I remember reading on srtforums that someone tried and had not so good results. I know the tires are "Ultimate wet/dry traction" but snow? Hmm. I plan on either sending the car back to cali with dad or locking her up for the winter at a garage somewhere. If all else fails I will get some wheels and tires fitted for snow. Good luck!
I think any front wheel drive will do ok in the snow, esp with 17s under them. If the snow is bad enough to require chains then i think thats a diff story all together. Just my thoughts. I live near big bear and drive in the snow every winter.
millenium,
Sorry, but it's not like that at all
While I have not piloted the 04 BFG tires, I'm assuming they are the winter equivelent to the 03s Pilot Sports. And it's pretty ugly. Unless you are a very experienced low traction driver, these tires are hazardous for you. They are right at the edge of acceptable, and I'm a VERY good snow driver. Either get a set of Blizzaks, or some all season tires or take your chances.
The problem is that the rubber compound that provides such great warm traction turns very stiff and uncompromising in the cold.

'3 season' tires mean that is about as long as they last before their wore down to the rims. I've had my car 4 months and my front tires already look horrid. I hate these useless things, already having to rotate them to get another 4 months of use then throw them away. But when I buy new tires I'm purchasing new wheels as well, so thats gonna be a bit. Anyway the 4th season everyone knows is Fall! Man those leaves really mess up traction.
I got my SRT-4 on Feb 22nd, it started snowing while I was on my way home from teh dealer. I thought it was bad in the snow that day......2 weeks later, we got about 8 inches of snow. It took me over 2 hours to get home from work that day (23 miles). I slipped and slid all the way home. I DEFINITELY recommend some winter tires for snow. I couldnt pull into my garage. I had to get as far up the driveway as I could, back out into the street, then floor it back up the driveway. I almost slid into the garage wall. The snow packs into the treads and it make any traction almost impossible. I've been trying to find a set of 17in steel wheels for winter, but I haven't found any yet. I might have to buy a set of alloy wheels and mount Blizzaks on them for the winter.

Hmmmm, could explain why I didn't see any SRT-4s in Great Falls, Montana this past spring!
At any rate, the owner's manual is pretty clear on the use of the tires...they highly recommend using a winter tire if you live in an area that gets snow and ice. Judging from the way my SRT-4 handles in just ordinary rain, I'd say Mopar and the folks here are correct....
