Just recently purchased an '01 Ram1500 Quad Cab, 5.2 4x4 Laramie SLT. Color is stated as Bronze with the standard cloth fabric in Black trim throughout. I have thus far replaced the new brakes with ceramic on all four corners, replaced the air filter with the K&N factory direct replacement. (pending the FIPK by K&N if not sufficient) and finally Bosch Platinum +4 plugs. I am researching inginition system options. I know that I need to upgrade, but want to make the best purchase possible.

Truck also has a Line-X spray in liner, tonnaue cover, and will be getting a diamondplate tool box. I have a Cobra CB ready to install, just awaiting purchase of tool box, as that is the most likely location for the placement of the antenna.

This beast has the auto trans which I find less than impressive, as I am used to straight drive trans. The truck is like driving a land yacht. Just mash the gas and it goes. No chance of breaking traction. By the way, for rubber it has 33x12.5 Bridestone tires, of the all terrain varitety. Can't recall the exact model.

So far I love the truck except for the trans. I have always driven straight drive, and just don't care for not being in control of the gear box. Allowing the vehicle to decide when and how to shift is something new to me, and less than desireable or acceptable. It would seem that this truck has no clue. Hopefully, that is something that can be remedied with some reprogramming or the expense of a conversion from auto to straight drive.

Previously owned vehicle was a '98 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0, Straight drive, considered loaded for a Jeep. I absolutely loved it in most aspects, except for the fact that it was just too small. There wasn't much one could do except drive the beast. It was for fun, and there wasn't much practical application at all. That was the deciding factor in replacing with something that could haul. Cargo as well as ***, potentially. I also had a '89 Dodge Daytona Shelby, T-top model, that I miss dearly. I wanted to restore it, however financial obligation as well as practical purpose deemed it neccessary to sell.

Welcome welcome!!

I LOVE manual trucks.. but my auto Ramis my baby. LOL! I didn't have an option (bought her used) but she can still burn those tires...

Hopefully, with a few more mods, you'll break those tires loose... LOL! Daytona Shelby sounds bad ***!! Do you have pictures?!

Welcome! Tell your friends and stick around, this place is a great place to meet your fellow Dodge gearheads!

ya know, i ALMOST bought a quad cab 4x4 5.2L when i decided on my 'trepid. i found a 97 or 98 ithink, that had alot of miles on it, but preeeeetty.

then i realized id never be able to drive past a gas station, although i could get to one in the snow, and get all my friends there with me LOL i drive about 150-250 miles a day, i eat up gas like it was going out of style! so the 2.7L trepid motor seemed a little more fuel efficient lol

why the hell did i feel it necessary to tell you all that? hell i dunno :O
