Default Newb from Ohio

Just wanted to say howdo. Newbie to this forum from NE Ohio. Mine is a 99 Sunfire Yellow Dakota Sport. I bought it used last year. It has 56k miles, keyless entry, power windows, cruise, air, tilt, electric sliding sunroof, AM/FM CD. I put a series 40 muffler and Moroso 9" open air cleaner on to get it to run like a V6. I don't really like the V6, but my Grand Cherokee has the 4.7 and one gas hog is enough in the family, well two if you include my Javelin, so I went with the V6 on this one. Plus my wife was pushing for it as she liked the color and the sunroof.

I just had the catalytic converter replaced, had a rattle inside, it was still under warranty, so that was a freebie from mopar. Its not to bad of a truck. Ride sucks in it compared to the Jeep, but I just run it back and forth to work. On trips and such we take the Jeep.
After swapping out the muffler and air cleaner, I drive it more often. Even my wife was complaining about the performance when we first got it, she's hooked on the 4.7. But she agrees the Dakota runs better now than before. Not good enough to give me back the Jeep, heh. But I'm not trying to get the Dakota to run like a V8, just getting it to run like a V6.

I'm new to the forum, but not to Mopar, I've been Mopar all my life, 30 some years. I've own, Super Bees, GTX's, Chargers, Road Runners, 300's (cross-ram J and K's), XE's, GTS's and even Windsors and Saratoga's in the past. Poly's, Cross-Rams, big blocks, but never had a HEMI. Recently switched to AMC, something different. Where I live I have only seen one 69 AMX running the streets. So AMC is pretty rare here which is why I went to AMC.

My Javelin is a 68, I'm slowly restoring that, actually its more of as money allows. I'm putting all new brake lines on that, shoes, wheel cylinders, the whole 9 yards. I have the front clip off, repairing the fender gussets. They took a pretty good rust hit. Has a 290, will probably change it over to a 343. But with the price of gas, I might keep the 290 in it. Car hasn't been on the road in over 10 years, motor hasn't been started about 5 years. Body needs work, but the frame and floorboards are pretty solid. Past three years I've been gathering up parts for it.

Well, thanks for letting me ramble. Later..

Chris

Pic of my Javelin. Well kinda sorta. This is what it will look like when finished. Its Hileaha Yellow. This isn't my car, but will look just like it when finished. The red car was my 58 Saratoga. It had a 354 Spitfire V8. I couldn't go anywhere without being stopped in this. I have a pic of my 68 Charger somewheres, I'll have to dig it up.

Welcome aboard Chris- sounds like you've had a lot of interesting rides over the years. The Javelin should be nice when it's done as well. Post any pics of your past rides that you may have- be interested to see them!

Hey Chris,

Always had a hard-on for AMX close to the MAD MAX cars the Interceptors. If you ever hit rock bottom and need to give it away I'll show it a great home.

Heres a pic of my 68 Charger, its not the best but at the time I had a cheap camera. My Charger was restored by me. It took me three years. The only thing I didn't do was the paint. I did the body work, prepped the body and bought the paint. I had it flatbedded to the dealership where the bodyshop sprayed the paint for me. The color was Chrysler Coporate Red. It was a 383 Charger, auto on the floor. I put an Offy Equa-Flow manifold, new AFB, 440 Magnum heads off a 69 Charger, RV cam (I wanted torque), headers, Accel wires, curve kit, M/T valve covers, 14" Moroso Air Cleaner, B&M tranny, and 3:55 posi. It had 120k miles.

A pic of my 79 Magnum XE. It had a 360. The only thing I did to this car was headers, dual exhaust and remove the Spark Control crap and installed a Mopar electronic ignition. Those T-Tops were great in the summer. It was pretty well loaded with options. A great ride.

I have to dig around the house for some of my other cars. I can't remember if I even have pics. I'll try to find the cross-ram pics.
