I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 5.9l that's a 4x4. I'm new to working on trucks and i really want to learn. So I bought the truck and want to redo everything my self and just ran into some wiring problems. I replaced the dash with one i found online and now it wont start. I double checked everything and only found these issues. In the first picture there are 3 quick connects but on the new the dash the quick connect circled is missing. So I'm trying to figure out what it is and if i need it. The second picture is me holding a wire that i have no clue where it goes. I literally can't see anywhere it plugs in which leads to the same question, what is it? Can someone please help me?
The wiring harnesses on the 2nd gen trucks were pretty much universal, they had connectors for most of the options, whether the truck has those options or not. So, additional connectors that go nowhere isn't a surprise.
You can download the factory service manual for your truck from here. Wiring diagrams and such are in section 8W. LOTS of good info in there, just need to learn how to find it. (a skill that you ARE going to need to learn. )
Post any further questions you have in the 2nd gen ram tech section.
