Did it originally come with the 12 valve? (I think the early 98's did, 24 valve came after the mid-year refresh?)

Welcome to DF!

Default Early 98 12 valve

Yes, I have an early 98 12valve. Took me a while to find it though. The 98.5 is 24 valve. Gotta order parts for 97 sometimes to avoid getting 24v stuff.

Yeah, dodge did some odd and strange stuff over the years, and not all the parts stores are familiar with 'em. Try getting calipers for a 96 3/4 ton.... They handed me the dual piston fellers...... Those just weren't gonna fit.

I research what the parts stores have then give them the part #. Or order it on line and just pick it up. Then you don't have to rely on who's behind the counter giving you the wrong stuff.
