DETROIT - The first 2005 GTOs are scheduled to arrive at select Pontiac dealers by the end of December, but interested customers can get a sneak peak at the new model on the DVD release of The Last Ride, the USA Network original film starring Dennis Hopper, Chris Carmack and both classic and modern GTOs.
The DVD will be at video stores on Tuesday, December 21. The movie will also air on Saturday, December 11, at 8 p.m. EST on the NBC television network.
"Since early summer and the original airing of the film on USA Network television, we've seen interest in the 2004 GTO steadily increase," said Dino Bernacchi, Pontiac advertising manager. "The DVD release of The Last Ride gives us the opportunity to celebrate the heritage of the classic GTO while providing behind-the-scenes information about the enhanced power and styling options available in the 2005 model."
Additional information about The Last Ride, and the 2005 GTO, can be found at a special Pontiac web site at www.pontiac.com/thelastride. In addition to cast bios and production stills, visitors can also register to win several prizes, including the grand prize of a new 2005 GTO and a walk-on role in an upcoming USA Network movie production.
Pontiac is a division of General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM) and markets the Bonneville, GTO, Grand Prix, Grand Am, Vibe, Sunfire, and Montana. Pontiac sold more than 475,000 vehicles in 2003, ranking third among GM divisions in total sales. In 2004, Pontiac introduced the Montana SV6 crossover sport van and the G6 sedan. The G6 coupe and convertible, the V8-powered Grand Prix GXP and the Solstice roadster will follow in 2006. RE: 2005 Pontiac GTO Arrives In Dealers!
Lunch for SRT-4s and new 2005 Mustang GTs? I think not, the 2005 Pontiac GTO is very very different than the 350 horsepower LS-1 model from last year. The 2005 model, has the new LS-2 motor w/ 400 horsepower and 395-ft lbs of torque. This is the only car I can say that isn't a Chrysler product that I absolutely fell in love w/.

They should make those ram air scoops functional and call it whatever would fit into the old Ram Air III/IV/etc sequence. I'm glad to see they did some things to make the car a little more visually exciting, the 04 made the average Grand Prix GT coupe look like a race car.

We'll see.....GM and Ford are famous for rating their pre-production cars way over what the factory cars turn out to have. I've owned all major go-fast cars (except the "Vette") from the big 3 US makers and only DCX lived up to their claims (actually they understated their claims).........
