probably about the same way the one that gm used to have available on their suvs... i had one on my blazer not as fancy and was there to help blow water and stuff off the rear window so that a rear wiper wasn't need yet it still had a rear wiper... lol but any way took it off for a while to see if i would get better milage and actually it hurt the fuel milage by a couple mpg... and i did like 5-6 tanks of normal driving and it was worse put it back on and the milage went back up..

They claim the plastic gate cover on 06+ and the intregrated one on the 09 (Ram) help.
