Never understood "runaway" car crashes. If the damned accelerator is stuck, put the car in neutral.

Right... lol Or turn the key, slam on the brakes and use the hand brake.

These ARE Toyota owners we are talking about. (Yes, I am one, but not your "normal" Toyota owner).
For most of them, it seems as if simple everyday thoughts don't flow in their heads. Putting the transmission in neutral (which would than redline your engine, however), and/or simply turning the key off, wouldn't come across their minds. THEIR DUMB!!!

I'm a member at a particular Toyota forum, and some of these people are just helpless.
My Corolla came with floor matt's that didn't extend over into where the pedal travel area is, which seems like a great idea. Until your in the rain and snow, and that crap is getting all on to the regular carpet. I've replaced them with Goodyear rubber floor matts, and love them.

well yeah they could shut it off, or redline it, OR..... they could kick the freakin floormat out of the way.

Yup... they sneer at us when we're fillin our trucks up at the gaspumps... but then they're on their knees whimpering come January when they're stuck in 4 inches of snow. It's a vicious cycle :-P

Yeah, throwing it in neutral these days is harmless. Most all newer cars have a built in rev limiter so it wouldn't blow up anyway. I would just kill the ignition myself.
