Every year something bigger and better comes out. Not sure why this news is surprising to anyone. 2011 might be bozos year but who knows what will blow it away in 2012 and what will blow that away in 2013.

 

I'm not buying it that it took the Cummins 24 seconds to pass. my sisters first car, a 87 Tercel with like 50lbs of torque and weighed like 2800lbs, could pass a truck in the mountains of NC faster than that.

 

The Ford is a nice truck, but that's just bull****.

 

Maybe I missed it, but what rear end ratio did each of them have. And as mentioned, they didn't say whether the throttle was floored for all the trucks. Also, if you look at it again, you'll see the Dodge is the only truck that is pacing the truck at 30 mph. The Ford and Chevy were overtaking the truck before the "official" time began. Anyone who would rather have the Powerstroke or Duramax over the Cummins, more power to you. But when you get sick of getting spanked in the real world by Dodge, you'll come back to the best.

 

You can tell the Ford was revving much higher than the Ram and Silverado, and I believe that's why they cut the tachometer out of the picture. If you look closely while inside the Silverado, it's only around 2-2.5k RPM's. If it were floored, that D max would be rapping out a bit higher than that.

There's two other tests to this. The order was the same in them all: Ford, Chevy, Dodge. I find that a bit convenient as I really doubt they would finish in that exact order every time in an unbiased test.

 

Any particular reason why jd says ram is best this year and not furd? i believe it was the HD as well.

 

The Ram HD series is truck of the year 2010. The new Ford is a 2011 model.

After watching the passing video again, the Ram shows 0 PSI on the oil pressure gauge. A bit odd, isn't it?

 

The 2010 still uses the fire throwing out the tailpipe 6.4L Navistar built engine. The 2011 will have an all new Ford built engine. The Duramax is still an Isuzu built engine. Not sure what Cummins has in the works but they are getting ready to expand their plant in Indiana and hiring 200 more people.

 

The Ram that won was the 2011 model year in the year 2010.

 

I think they used the Ram 1500 Vs. all the rest... if you read the notice in the beginning, they said the trailer weight was limited to 9,750 since that was the max tow rating for the RAM.
