This car is a POS

The 4.0 is a derivative of the 3.4L V-8 used in the SHO. But it also has engineering from Jaguar and Volvo. The T5 engine is a solid engine. It's the rest of the Volvo that is iffy. But I do know that the car will have 300HP and 300Tq. Hey, they got 390HP out of the 4.6L in the Cobra. Up from the 260HP in the Mustang GT. Granted they used a supercharger. But they got there anyway.
If they use the Mazdaspeed 6 engine, they are going to have to modify it or something to get 300hp because it only currently puts out 274 hp & 280 ft-lbs of torque. The Volvo T5 does offer that, but I just don't trust that engine. Glad to hear their may be a 6 speed manual available. Do you know if it would offer AWD? Is the 4.0L V8 tested related to the SHO engine line, a Jaguar engine, or is it related to the normal Ford V8s?

I don't like the car either, I think it is kind of ugly. I just wanted clarification on your statement, that's all. I guess from your follow up post, you like my car OK.
Just messing with you.

Well what besides the styling has been done by Chrysler. It has the "World Engine," block made by Hyundai. If the block was made by Mercedes or Mitsubishi, I would be more patient, but Hyundai is known for being more unreliable than either one. The platform is a Mitsubishi, and the transmission is a CVT built by some other company. The CVT turns me off more than anything else because CVTs have a bad reputation for breaking prematurely. I'm turned off because I'm struggling to find any major part of this vehicle that is made by Chrysler, and I doubt the reliability of the CVT and the engine line. I don't have a problem with the platform being built by Mitsubishi, but if I was going to buy a Chrysler product, I want something in there to be built and designed by Chrysler, not by Hyundai.

What do you mean by this??

The Caliber doesn't intested me because I consider it not to be a real Chrysler product, and I ignore it.

Chase, I'm not saying it's not on a good platform. The Lancer platform is a good one. I'm complaining that nothing about the car is made by Chrysler including the platform, and that the engine is made by a company that has a reputation for making junk and the transmission is a design that has a bad reputation.
I look forward to what the Lancer platform is going to be used for in the future, the Avenger/Sebring. I hope with these they will put in a decent transmission (62TE) and a powerful and reliable V6 (3.5L or 4.0L).
thestealth, I always thought the Stealth was a cool looking car. I wish it had a Chrysler engine, but Mitsubishi is acceptable. I don't have a problem with the fact that it is on a Mitsubishi platform either.

I'm not saying it's impossible, just an ajustment will need to be made on the Mazdaspeed 6 engine (2.3L turbo). Remember that the 4.6L in the GT during 03-04 was a two valve per cylinder engine and the supercharged Cobra had four valves per cylinders. So they would need to do something. Thank you for the info.

I personally dont like the looks of the Caliber, but they are going to milk that particular platform for awhile because it cost efficient and already available and since the Lancer is a nice little car I dont see any problem wih that at all.
And as for the transmission... gee I remember when "front-wheel drive" had a bad rep, but what about now? Come on, do you think that Chrysler is going to use the same designs for CVT's that have been having problems, uh no.

How were they? Which one felt the most powerful and the least powerful? The Mach 1, NON-supercharged Cobra, or current 05-06 GT model.

Cobra (minor mods do wonders for that car)
Mach 1 (with a boatload of potential)
Current GT
2004 GT (but it corners better than the 05-06 model)
SVT is coming with factory approved mods, through Ford dealers, when the next line of SVT vehicles come out too.
*yawns*
yeah...ive blown enough of those GTs off the track to know that none of them can hold a light to the 03-04 cobra...but the problem is that driving skill doesnt come with the terminator...ive seen 10 second 03-04 cobras, but ive also seen just as any running mid to low 13s...

the caliber is made in a Chrysler plant. it isn't like it is going down a mitsh line and they are throw a Hyundai in it. the world engines are very different between brands. i believe all they share is teh block. Chrysler is solely responsible for the rest of the engine components. BTW the CVT is a Nissan.
