the CTS which starts under 30k has a 2.8L thats has 210hp and then they have a 3.6L 255hp option. it also looks alot better then the Lincoln. how can they compete against this. the only people who will drive this Lincoln are workers who gets discounts and retirees from ford who gets discounts.
Yeah, and that is why Ford is having problems. They need to offer something that makes people outside the Ford work force interested, and even some of those people don't buy Ford products either. What does that tell you about the appeal to their cars and trucks.
Sorry to throw out another reply, but I thought this was funny since Chrysler was the first automotive company to introduce the rule that people driving non-chrysler vehicles had to park away from the plant, and it happened to be the plant in Kokomo that my dad works for. If Chrysler/Dodge appeal was that great, I dont see why they would need this.

Sorry to be coming down hard on some of the Chrysler stuff, its not that I have anything against them, and I was surprised to see so many people say good things about a Lincoln, or any other vehicle, at a site like this, but geez, some of you are stupid about this stuff.

Ah, you're an Indiana boy.....just up the road from me...about 35 min....and I remember when they did that.....

As for Lincoln, I'd buy them over Ford products......especially a Lincoln LS....very nice car...

The Fusion is just a Ford 500 with a nice front end and some groaty looking wood panels thrown in...all at a cost over the 300.
Not really...
ORIGINAL: ViperGTS

Matt, the Fusion is using a Mazda 6 platform, and the 500 is using a Volvo platform. They are two different cars altogether.
Most likely
LMAO You make me laugh...

What is your point? Ford is losing serious market shares and Chrysler is gaining. I know people who work for Ford who don't own Fords. I can complain and be consistent because I was critical of the Ram not offering a more powerful V8 than the 5.9L back in 2002. The Caliber doesn't intested me because I consider it not to be a real Chrysler product, and I ignore it, but what the heck do you mean that the Lincoln slaughters it in fuel mileage? What I don't like is that it is an overpriced car and a wise customer can do better for their money. I'm disguisted because Ford is screwing themselves and this is going to hurt the employees because they aren't offering the right product still, and the reason why I don't want Ford to screw themselves to death is I have relatives that work for them. If employees want to keep their jobs, they should buy the products their companies make to help support them. I'm not saying the companies should fire them, I'm just saying employees should be more loyal to their bosses, and the company should make more reliable, and more appealing products.

If Ford's 3.5L actually brings good low-end grunt, smooth operation, good reliability, and good fuel economy at a competitive price in these cars, then I will compliment them. The problem is I have used that 3.0L DOHC engine and it has none of those characteristics. Now the 2.3L I4 is a nice engine that they are borrowing from Mazda. Since you think I have a huge bias against Ford/Lincoln over being a Dodge fan, then I will tell you this. I like the LS V8, liked the Mark VIII, the last generation Continental, the mid-90s Mustang GT and Cobras, the pre-96 Taurus SHOs, 1991-1997 T-bird/Cougar V8s, and pre-1997 Ford trucks. They have been making too many cars that I find subpar and overcharging for them.

If they use the Mazdaspeed 6 engine, they are going to have to modify it or something to get 300hp because it only currently puts out 274 hp & 280 ft-lbs of torque. The Volvo T5 does offer that, but I just don't trust that engine. Glad to hear their may be a 6 speed manual available. Do you know if it would offer AWD? Is the 4.0L V8 tested related to the SHO engine line, a Jaguar engine, or is it related to the normal Ford V8s?
[/quote]

The 4.0 is a derivative of the 3.4L V-8 used in the SHO. But it also has engineering from Jaguar and Volvo. The T5 engine is a solid engine. It's the rest of the Volvo that is iffy. But I do know that the car will have 300HP and 300Tq. Hey, they got 390HP out of the 4.6L in the Cobra. Up from the 260HP in the Mustang GT. Granted they used a supercharger. But they got there anyway.

Well what besides the styling has been done by Chrysler. It has the "World Engine," block made by Hyundai. If the block was made by Mercedes or Mitsubishi, I would be more patient, but Hyundai is known for being more unreliable than either one. The platform is a Mitsubishi, and the transmission is a CVT built by some other company. The CVT turns me off more than anything else because CVTs have a bad reputation for breaking prematurely. I'm turned off because I'm struggling to find any major part of this vehicle that is made by Chrysler, and I doubt the reliability of the CVT and the engine line. I don't have a problem with the platform being built by Mitsubishi, but if I was going to buy a Chrysler product, I want something in there to be built and designed by Chrysler, not by Hyundai.
