Does anyone know where the power window relay is located in a 1969 Charger Daytona? I'm at the last leg of a four years restoration (Had this Daytona since 1970) and have the power windows on the passenger side not operating safe from the driver side master switch. I tried replacing the local switches but still no go. So I assume it's a faulty relay but have no idea where to look for it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
So far as I know, there is only a circuit breaker, and the window motors are direct wired. If the passenger window works from the passenger switch, check the wiring from the body, to the doors. The wires bend every time you open/close the door, and eventually break....
We can't post replies without pics! Just kidding, But pics would be great. I found this on the net because it's easier then digging out my books. If you replaced both switches and you are sure the motor in the passenger door is good then it's in the wiring or most likely the connectors. Age, corrosion and amp draw will do a number on the connectors.
The reason I was looking for the relay is the drawing above. True, its for Chrysler and Plymouth but I assumed (wrongly it seems) that it was true for Dodge also. So... I did check the wiring as per the "Dodge repair manual" and found no issue. I had two motors in stock so I changed both front and rear on the passenger side. They both work great from the master switch but not at all from the local switches. I tried to operate the front passenger window with the door opened and then closed to check for a kinked wire but same result: works from master switch and not even a hum from the motor with the local switch. What is really strange is that the problem is with both front and rear windows on the passenger side while the wiring itself is obviously not connected safe from the master switch that uses the same circuit. Local switch on the driver side rear window works. Not much left I guess except changing the wiring. By the way, where is that circuit breaker? In back of the dash??? With the fuse box???
I have a 69 Dodge repair manual but it is not specific to Charger Daytona. The power window wiring diagram shows no breaker. However, the instrument panel wiring diagram shows one. Could this be the one? I know there is a breaker because it did activate previously with repeated use of a defective high load window motor.
I think that particular circuit breaker is for the ammeter......
I really can't tell where power is coming into the window circuit. I suspect the master switch provides power to the other three slave switches, but, on which wire??? I think it is W1 coming from the main switch, as that goes to a splice that goes to the center pin on the other three switches. Check the passenger front door switch connector. (pull the switch off) see which circuit, if any.... has power.
