Laser starts off 2-0
So, while running around getting stuff for the demon this past weekend, I was using the laser rather than the awesome focus rental. While headed back to the shop I was sitting at a light and an old guy pulled up next to me in a red late L82 Corvette. It didnt sound too bad...but it didnt sound like an automatic. the guy was starring at me, and when i made eye contact, he gave me a big smile, and pointed to his "corvette" hat, and revved the engine. i revved back, and he laughed and inched forward a bit. i eased into it a bit, and nosed up with him, and when the light turned green, i launched around 3500rpm...it was even for the first few seconds, but by the time i was into the powerband in second gear, i had began to pull on him, and by 3rd gear, i was a few lengths aheads, so i let off...he blew by and gave me a thumbs down out the window. i turned ashedroveoff, continuing my drive back to the shop. as i got to the next light, waiting to turn right onto a different 4 lane road, there was a red integra with "mugen" on the windshield...and when we made the left turn onto the open stretch of road, i stayed in first gear, nice and slow, and let him get next to me...he gavea quick honk, and i was expecting 2 more, but he honked again and jumped on it, pulling a bit ahead until i also began to speed up...it took me a second or so to get along side him, but once i was into mid rpm in 2nd gear, i was passing him...we approached the next light side by side, and from a dig, it wasnt much of a race...i pulled him pretty badly out of the hole, and it sounded as though he spun the tires...and when i shifted into third gear i backed off...and he came by and smiled and waved...

well, some old guys dont like to face the fact that although their corvette may be an american icon, its a 16 second american icon...

Low and in some cases sub 200 HP "muscle/sports" cars. Oh and that god aweful Mustang II, which was aglorified Pinto, if that is possible.
Makes you wonder, which car made a respectable american sports car again first.... Grand National/GNX? They really did a good job in 86 or 87 when they added the intercooler, at the same time the Vette was still only 245HP and it was before ZR1 days.
