There's an excellent article in DF's "Race News" section on how politics forced NASCAR to do what it did.....very interesting reading.....

It would have been better to have him do a public service annoucement on TV, admitting he shouldn't have said what he did and explain to the people, kids, that this is not proper for a celebrity or anyone else for that matter.

Oh yeah, and the fine should stand too, but don't take the points.

Drivers should police themselves as best as they can, but slip ups will happen. Reguardless, NASCAR is ultimately responsible for anything that they broadcast. Nascar should fine itself for "actions detrimental to stock car racing" for not going to a delayed broadcast after the first two incidents, and instead of accepting their responsibility to do that, they're passing the blame onto the driver. Also, Nascar wasn't even consistant with their rulings in this case. Unlike the two other cases of foul words being said on the air, owner points were taken away too. I'm sure Nascar is praying Jr. doesn't lose the championship by less than 25 points, because they'll have one hell of a PR sh!tstorm come down on them.

That's my two cents.
