yes....the manual would take both cars no doubt....ive raced a cougar and killed it everytime....it was a v6 auto with custom exhaust and a intake....i made it look slow....as long as you have the manual advantage over the automatics your usually set....but in your case you wouldnt probly beat either...
invest in a transmission cooler and a intake and you would have a much better chance...

I was just looking at the cougar specs. I would say the V6 cougar would beat a neon...not the l4 cougar.
V6 cougar:
BHP: 170
TQ: 165
LBs: 2800
Neon:
BHP: 132
TQ: 130
LBs:2600
I don't think 200 lbs would slow the cougar down enough for the neon to catch up. It would be a close race if the neon had a few simple bolt-on mods. Like CAI, exhaust, etc. Neons still surprise me though. Eveytime my neon with just an CAI beats a car with all these mods or just a nice car...I just wonder how in the world it happened. The stats just never lean towards the neons but they can go for sure.
