Stock vs stock, it's 11:30 p.m. here inChesaning,MI. A "hemi" ram stock will win...end of story. We just ran a 2000 dakota r/t vs a 2003 ram hemi.(both 2wd,standard cab,both below 75,000 miles) I still don't understand why everyone thinks a r/t is going to spank a hemi. The hemi has 345hp and 375tq! A dakota r/t has what, 250hp and 350tq...max?! Thats a 100hpdifference... AR/T is pretty much a SLT + upgraded rims,exhaust,running boards and maybe pcm. They're not as "badass" as everyone claims.[sm=closed.gif]

Thats believeable, but the situation we are discussing is an R/T with slight mods vs a Quad Cab Hemi Ram.

He said the hemi had catback, intake, and chip. That R/T's going to need a performance intake manifold/throttle body& cam in order to beat him...and a really big cam at that!

 

It also depends on the driver. Sometimes the driver is the only difference you need. I just think itll be closer than you think.

I have a 1st gen club cab that is heavyer. and its 4x4 I do have a modified 5.9rt engine. I have beat about 2 hemi trucks at the drag strip. Before I had a 5.2 I beat a hemi by 1 car leanth. I belive it has alot to do withthe driver. ya a modified5.9 will beat the hemibut stock will beat it too. reaction time and how you shift if a mauel or how the auto shifts. not every tranny will shift exactly thesame. some will be slower or faster. some will shift to early some too late. autos arnt perfect. you have to make it perfect. most people cant tell if the tranny is shifting early or late when it comes down to mili seconds and all. also each truck has a computer that learns its owners driving habits. if they are a slow driver the computer will not put out as much power as a person with a heavy foot. lots of varibles.

 

I raced a SC Hemi Ram with chip, exhuast, intake... not sure on his gains with that,

but at the time i had my 2000 R/T with, stock intake, m-1, stock tb, 1.7 rockers, headers and thats about it... he beat me by about 1 truck length. We did a dig and 2 30mph punches.. off the line i had him, but at about 60 he was about 1 truck length ahead and then i sarted pulling.. but we quit.

When i first got my truck it was out of tune (still is) and pulled 270rwhp/350rwtq... im waiting to get my PCM switched out and my electic fan put in and im going to get a dyno tune and race the **** again and im hoping ill either hang or pull maybe 1/2 truck..
