Beating an Accord
I was up in Sioux Falls last weekend and this guy in a 6 cylinder Accord pulls up next to me on the interstate. We were cruising about 65 and he starts to take off. being the racer that i am, i punched it and we raced side by side for a while. once we hit 90 i left him behind and he gave up about the time i hit 100. it was awesome! but the coolest part was that i had 4 college guys all in my stock 2.5L Dodge Daytona.
The 6 cylinder Accord make 200hp and 150 Tq at the crank. There are not to many mods for it besides intake and exhaust. From 98 to 02 the came in Auto only (V6 models). They need to be above 3500 rpms for the VTEC to operate. They are pretty quick.
Your Daytona sounds nice, good kill.

I hate to, but I have to call BS on this one. Unless you have that 2.5L heavily built, turbocharged or sprayed, there's no way you could beat the V6 Accord, unless he was never really even trying to begin with.
Your 2.5L has only 96 horsepower where the Accord has 200-240 horsepower depending on it's year. Another problem is that you claim to have yourself and 4 college guys in the Daytona at the time (unless your counting yourself as one of the 4 college guys). I had an '88 Daytona Shelby Z and had a very hard time fitting myself and 3 other guys in it at the same time, where was your 4th guy at in the hatch itself. So we have an Accord with over twice your Daytonas horsepower and your Daytona having 4 or 5 college guys total in it raising the overall weight by between 600-1,000+lbs. Now at this point your Daytona is equal or heavier weight than the Accord and less than half the horsepower of the Accord.[sm=rolleyes.gif]
I only have one thing to add to this and that is:

I don't know it sounds unlikley but I eat mustangs for lunch everyday. Accords are so weak its pathetic. I walk them on a regular basis. Of course I've got a neon thats kinda tweaked and has afew stickers...

Yeah, but Neons with the SOHC also have more horsepower and a few hundred pounds less than the Daytonas. I had lots of fun with my '99 Neon R/T with the mods I had done to it. Most people don't know or believe that the Neon has a very dominating and proud racing history. How do you know or find out exactly what stage 1, 2, 3, etc. weight reduction is, what is removed or done to achieve this? I know how to lighten cars, but how is it determined that this certain amount is a stage level? I have always wondered about this.
Another problem was how he said he beat this Accord in the higher end where the V-Tech comes to life (above 4,000 RPM from what I've read). Not that he would have stood a chance from a dead stop, but at the upper end is really pushing the realm of impossibility.
i always thought the "Stage" thing was soemthign that came about from video games,...a short of ricer thing. ive cut about 800lbs off the mirada and i dont call it stage anything..
