Brewco teams up with Duraflame, Biffle for '05

Duraflame Inc. and Brewco Motorsports owner Clarence Brewer Jr. announced Friday a partnership to pair two former Busch Series champions in Fords prepared by the Central City, Ky., team.

Duraflame will be the primary sponsor of Brewco's No. 66 Ford driven by 2002 Busch champion Greg Biffle, with crew chief Newt Moore in 17 of the 35 races, beginning with the season opener at Daytona International Speedway.

Biffle joins 1994 series titlist David Green, who will drive Brewco's No. 27 Kleenex Fords next season, engineered by new crew chief Stewart Cooper. Green previously drove Brewco's No. 37 Timber Wolf cars.

The No. 66 Dodge was run in Duraflame colors in 2004 by Rusty Wallace Inc., which has different primary sponsors for its 2005 program, Miller Brewing and Top-Flite.

"As I explored my options for the 2005 season, I was quickly comforted by the professionalism and dedication that Clarence Brewer and the entire Brewco Motorsports organization have shown in their efforts to build a championship caliber program," Biffle said. "With the support of Duraflame and Ford Racing, there is no doubt we will be challenging for wins every Saturday.

"I have had a lot of success in the NASCAR Busch Series and look forward to continuing that level of success with Brewco and Duraflame."

Fifteen of Biffle's 17 Duraflame races will be will be companion events with the Nextel Cup Series, while Biffle will compete in an undetermined number of additional companion races in the 66 car, with different sponsorships.

Biffle's Busch race on June 18 at Kentucky Speedway is the same weekend as the June 19 Cup race at Michigan International Speedway. Biffle, who competed in the full Cup and Busch Series seasons in 2004, has a 17th race on July 30 at Gateway International Raceway, a Cup off-weekend.

"We're very excited about this new opportunity with Brewco and Greg Biffle," said Chris Caron, vice president of marketing for Duraflame. "Brewco has a long tradition of success in the Busch Series, and with their new agreements with Ford for program development and Roush/Yates to supply motors we are confident that we will have first rate equipment to compete with the best funded, Cup supported teams in the Busch Series.

"And having Greg Biffle as our driver is the icing on the cake. Greg is a fierce competitor and one of the most successful Busch Series drivers in recent years. With the former Busch champion, who had five Busch wins this season and finished third in total points, piloting our car we are confident Busch Series fans will be seeing the eye-catching yellow Duraflame 66 car in Victory Lane many more times in 2005."

"We are very proud to have Duraflame join us in the celebration of our 10th season in NASCAR," Brewer said. "This is a very exciting time for us, and with their support and enthusiasm, 2005 will be a year to remember."

Brewer said he had secured additional limited schedule programs with other organizations such as Royal Office Products and the United States Postal Service taking the primary position when Duraflame is not on the car, which should allow the No. 66 Brewco team to compete for the 2005 owners' championship.

Biffle will compete in some of those races, a Brewco spokesman said, with the other driver or drivers remaining to be announced.

Duraflame plans to continue a promotional relationship with Wallace during his 2005 "Rusty's Last Call" tour, Wallace's final season before retiring as a Nextel Cup driver.

"Rusty is a NASCAR fan favorite and has been a great spokesman for our company," Caron said. "He made a significant contribution to fielding a competitive Busch team during its first year of existence, that produced a victory and several top-10 finishes."

Two Busch champions have never joined on one team for a program to the extent that Brewer has put together.

"Both the Duraflame family and the Brewco family have been involved in the wood products industry for decades, and both companies have operations in the state of Kentucky, making this relationship the perfect fit," Brewer said. "With the addition of a championship caliber driver such as Greg Biffle, we are very excited to show up to the track and compete for wins each and every week."
