good advice. i'm glad nobody was hurt.

i was hauling *** down the road one day, passing cars on a 2 lane road. a lady with a carload of kids pulled out of a side street and into her lane, which was the one i was in. i was able to duck back into the right hand lane, but it was too close... f**k it, now i drive 40 mph

well stated.

Half the people who say this story opens their eyes will forget it the next time they get in their car. We all watch cop chases and see what stupidity can do and the crashes but we think it will never happen to us.
two words- 1.maturity 2.irresponsibility

I don't condone street racing but i also don't back down from a Race Challenge. in the city i go till i have a lead or if i see the race isn't going anywhere i let off or turn off if they are faster, most of the time the highway is my play ground. and I race the oposing guyfor a clear lane without slow traffic or back ups. in my area we have a highway that has a few hills in it through town so you can see for a good 1 mile on some of them if its clear or not and thats when i usually decide to drop the hammer.

Its very easy to pick apart a highway with a 5 speed dohc neon when your competition is civics and 05 mustangs, i never pick a fight with a car that i think is outside of the neon class but that will change as soon as i drop my turbo 2.4 in the coming weeks.

anytime you decide to race on a public street and you hit something or scare someone else into wrecking, its only your fault. that being said,

when someone wants to race, i either tell them to go out to grudge match friday nights at famoso dragstrip, or follow me to the airport.

at the airport there is a road that is a dead end road, it has only 3 entrances, one is the start of the road at the stop sign, one is an airport entrance which is only used by DHL, and one is for the SPCA animal shelter, both of which are completely emptied out at 5pm, therefore the only entrance is from behind me. And even then i will still check the entire length of the street to make sure theres no chances

in grassroots motorsports this month, there was an article about a kid who bought one of the $2006 challenge cars, a dodge neon, and then promptly was involved in not one, but 2 fatal street racing accidents, one where the camaro he was racing ran into a steam roller, and died, and the second, the kid was racing through town and drove up on the sidewalk to avoid a car, and hit and killed a teen on a bicycle.

street racing through populated areas is never okay, no matter how good of a driver you are, even if you are a professional race car driver, things happen, especially when unknown variables are added in (pedestrians, cars, poor road conditions, stop lights)

ive backed down from many many street races because im not willing to put other people at risk just to boost my ego
