i ran my 2002 dodge intrepid SE(2.7) vs a 2003 dodge neon sxt(2.0 manual). we raced till i hit 75. we didn't want to push it we were racing on a main road. well to some it up, i raped the little neon. i thought it would be close, or he would keep up, because of his lack of weight compared to my car, and the fact his was manual, and because I'm running on a f*cked up PCM. in first gear i probably pulled a intrepid length and 1/2 ahead. my first gear is up to 40. it just got worse and worse from there. i think i was 5 cars lengths at 75 when second gear ended and i said screw it. i know he was racing against me because it was my best friends car. he knows how to drives manuals exceptionally well too. we raced at about 4 lights and the same result every time. i know i got 68hp over him, but he has a way lighter car.

 

Good run! The newer Neons are not as light as the older ones, the first gen. Neons only weighed around 2,300-2,600 lbs. and the SXT weighs over 2,600+ lbs. The SXT also has only 132 horsepower where the older Neons with the 2.0L DOHC have 150 horsepower. All Neons (except the SRT-4) have very little torque. The Intrepids are really nice and have much more torque to go with the greater horsepower. Since you were running up to only 75 MPH torque was the greater factor. Now if you were running against a first gen. DOHC Neon it would have ended the other way around. I wasn't a big fan of the first style Intrepid, but the newer restyled ones look d*mn good, too bad they never made them with a two door option, then I might have gotten one. Too bad they didn't make them with a manual trans either.[:@]

Congrats on the kill but you shouldn't have beat him by 5 car lengths. I don't think he was a great of manual driver as you think. As you can see below. I had a 2.7 Intrepid and now I have an 04' Neon.

 

I would agree on that one. He wasn't that good of a driver obviously. Nice job though, "driver mod" is the best mod you have for your car.

 

From what I could tell it was 5 or so cars lengths. I’ve had a 04 neon too at one point. It seemed decently fast, but u can tell the intrepid is faster, which the race proved. I like the looks of my intrepid, but if it was 2 doors I wouldn’t have bought it. The manual option wouldn't have hurt though. We will race again when it isn’t snow. I will have my pcm fixed by then. What might of hurt the neon was he had a sub and an another 140 pound teenager in there too. But I will stand by the fact that he is a good manual driver.

 

That's cool. By being only a 4 door they got your business, but missed out on mine so I guess it breaks even.
