Ok, well i raced my friend from work (silverado 98 2 wheel drive vortech)....but i have a 97 ram 1500 5.9 360...so i figured im gunna beat him...but to my surprise he beat me by about a car length in the quarter mile and was pullin...so im not hatin on gm anymore..

 

haha what a loser j/k[8D] if your stock those 5.9's arent too fast. one time i was in my f-150 and sum guy in a ram sport 5.9 wanted to run 'em and i had to show him who was boss.

 

Well good luck to both the chevy and srt so fast's f-150 in my Hemi.

 

the ram 360's i have found out, mine anyway arnt to powerfull when cranked and ran for the first time in the day usaly have to run it then stop and kill it and let it sit for a while then come abck and it have alot of power. he also coulda have some mods done.

 

Get a performance PCM and a catback for the 360, then try him again.

I find it hard to believe you beat him in an F-150.

My 5.9 360 gets up just fine for being a 10 year old truck. I mean, come on, its not a sports car

To make things worse tho........he had a topper. I lost to a truck with a topper!!

 

I would want to know what the difference in gearing is. I bet going to a better rear ratio or smaller diameter tire would help that Mexican 5.9. The 360's stroke is long and good for torque but long strokes can slow rpm building and require a lower gear. ALL of that could be cured by throwing out the stinkin' 3 speed trans and having a 5, 6 or 7 speed auto which are all being sold today. MoPar having a 5 speed is much better but a 6 or 7 should be available soon assuming they cannot make a CVT strong enough to handle a real engine.

 

i agree, the stock 360 is a dog. i used to own one, and it was sllloooowww. all it takes ia a good, solid, bigger cam to get that baby running with the rest of the herd.

my dads ram deffinatly has a 4th gear
