Well, in street there is a 12 second limit, I usually short shift to stay in the 12's. I shifted at 6000 1st-2nd and 5500 2nd-3rd and ran 11.76 on the first test run, then I shifted both times at 5500 and ran an 11.94.
So there were no more time runs so I just sandbagged it with a 12.50 dial and raced the end of the track. I was cutting good lights so I got away with it!

I just wish I had shifted at 6200 on that 1st run both times, I think it would have run 11.6's, the mph was there at 115.

I had 1.67 60 foot times and yes it's a 440 with old ported 516 close chamber heads.
It's 11:1 compression so I'm running race gas for now but I'd like to get back to 10:1 and run 91 octane like last year. It weighs 3700 with my fat *** in it!

Cool, good luck and I hope you get there soon, the best way is with a good set of heads.
It seems like everything falls into place with all these aluminum head engines, I on the other hand am hard headed and have to make it run with factory stuff or I'm not happy.
I respect you and your father for whooping butt on a budget, I have to get my small block project going soon.
I have a 360 8.5:1 with J heads that I'm going to port and hopefully run as good as you are but in a lighter Demon.

Were you in the RR?

What was the engine combo you are planning for the 360? Did you see the article in this months MoPar Muscle?

Badstrat, I want to run 87 octane,
Mopartodd, yes I was in the RR, as far as the 360, it's .030, total seal rings, its been square decked and line honed. I'm going to run a small cam with a tight centerline to build some cylinder pressure with the low compression.
So far I have a performer RPM manifold, I'm thimking a 224/224@.050, 108 LSA cam and
and some ported J heads. I'll try a 2800 Stall converter and 3.91 gears and see what happens.
I don't like the A-body hoods for carb clearance though, so I'll probably get a scoop of some kind.
