Hey Guys. I just joined and this is my first post. I travel 50 miles to work every day will a majority of the miles on straight country back roads. I have a 2wd 2003 ram QC HEMI with flowmasters and k&n that I admit that I drive around 85 ahem...65 most of the time to and from work. One morning I'm driving along a I come up behind a black chevy 454SS that I don't normally see on my way to work. We are both behind a log truck and we are traveling about 50 mph. The guy in the chevy keeps peeking around the log truck to pass but we soon come to a stop sign and the log truck turns and the guy in the chevy decides to pat the top of his truck and spin his wheels before peeling off ahead of me. I figure he's just some cocky dumb@$$ trying to show out b/c he has a 454 but then again I say what the hell, I have a hemi and I have 101 proof mopar running in my veins. Before he knows it I'm at his bumper sitting steady waiting to pass while he's looking in his mirror. We go around a corner and come to another stop sign getting ready to turn right on a long straight highway. He pulls out in front of a small car so I can't follow behind so I wait on the car and pull out. He is not pulling off like I thought he would so I start to pass the car only to here him get on it but here I am coming on strong and about to hit my 105 governor. I run the guy down and pass him but thats not enough. I turn my key foward to disable the governor and stay on it to I barely see him in my mirror and going God only knows how fast. I let off after I start to pull in to the next town and I see the car I passed before him him passing him. I guess I must have gave up. Its been three weeks since this happened and I haven't seen him since then. He must have set his alarm clock earlier to wake up and leave before I do. With the way I destroyed him, I would if I was him...

did you run out of power or just let off after u turned ur key?

 

I stayed on the gas. If you turn the key foward it bypasses the governor but also turns off the radio and abs. The speedo goes backwards but the rpm unlocks and it will actully shift into another gear. I had that hemi purring. I just installe 16 boush +4 platium spark plugs and they really made a difference in smoothness, power, and gas mileage. I still can't out run a gas station though.

Back in the early 90's when the 454SS was in production it was a fairly hot truck with 240hp, but then again it's competition was only developing around 210hp.

With over 100hp more than the old Chevy I would expect the Dodge moved quite quickly around him.

 

I went by him fast enough to blow the fiberglass and the bondo off his truck. Just to keep yall informed, I seen the guy again this morning riding along and when I got up to him he never tried to speed up. He stayed at 60 mph and when I passes him I slowly cruised by him and looked over at him and he wouldn't even look at me.

 

hahahahaha chevy sucks

It was a fair fight, the Chevy has far more cubic inches to work with than the new Hemi.
