On my way home from golfing yesterday afternoon, I was the 2nd car at a light. In front of me was a QC Silverado SS...next to him was a QC 4x4 Hemi Ram. I could hear them revving at each other over my radio. I don't know what some of you Ram owners are doing to your trucks to beat teh SS, but that Chevy walked all over teh Ram. It was almost embarrassing. The guy in teh Ram kept trying and kept getting spanked. I have read several posts about guys claiming to beat an SS, but after seeing this, it makes me wonder. I don't want to start a flame war, I like the Ram's, I almost bought one, but this guy got walked pretty bad. Maybe the SS was modded, but neither of them sounded like it. I knwo this is a dodge forum, and alot of people on hear don't like to read about this stuff, but it was a cool race. I was able to follow right behind them the whole race. They went for a good mile an a half, on and off, but only once from a light.

The QC 4x4 should not have run the SS, that's for sure. I've tried to get SS yoyo's around here to run me and they won't. My first time at the track with my truck turned times indentical to times I've seen posted for the SS. That 1/4 mile run was also .25 seconds slower than a 1/8 run that I had earlier in the day. My truck is stock.

There is alot you can do to the chevy though. He could have had a PCM or other mods that wouldn't necessarily be detectable over your radio/stereo.

 

while working as a tech, i posted a story about how i was test driving a customers SS, and some guy in a hemi pulled along side of me, and held up a hat with something like "my hemi eats fords and sh**s chevys"...lets just say that i was suprised hwo well the SS did...

i think that they RC 2wd hemi is solid competition for the SS, but from what ive seen at the track, the QC 4bys cant keep up...stock.

 

how can it beat a ram if it ways more?

 

sorry weighs. but isnt it because silverado ss has higher gear ratios?

 

the ss has 4.10 and the ram can have 3.92

 

how much power does the SS have?

 

the silverado ss supposedly has 345 but the numbers suggest otherwise

 

The SS is also a all wheel drive truck, so it's not traction limited like the Ram.

 

i read about the new rwd silverado ss and its performance is the same if not worse
