well, first id like to say that if it is a 1993 Z28 camaro it has a 350 v8. it also has a 4 speed auto or a 6 speed manual no exceptions. stock numbers for that car are 275hp and 320lbft. possibly it was a 3rd generation 1992 camaro with the TPI 5.7 v8. these cars are very slow but the fact he said it was a 5 speed is incorrect for a 93' Z. From the factory he should be able to do 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 14.1. Something doesnt add up

I may have made a mistake on the number of gears. I don't remember the exact conversation now, but I did ask him if it was the 350 manual and he said yes. I know it was the 1993 or newer body style. The 1982 to 1992 body style was much different. I'm sorry for the mistake, my memory is far from perfect. I hope this makes a little more sense.

Adds up fine. My '03 SRT-4 ran a 13.7 stock. When you have a 14.0 second "perfect run" RWD car vs a 14.0 second "perfect run" FWD car and the FWD car gets a better launch the FWD car will win. Typically a FWD car will trap a few mph faster than a RWD car running the same E.T. because the RWD car launches much better (hence a RWD car needs less power to run the same ET).

When I was stock (and figured out how to get the best launch from my car) I ran mostly 13.8 - 13.9 @ 101-102 w/ 2.0 to 2.1 60's. RWD cars running the same ET (13.8/13.9) trapped around 98-99mph with 1.8 - 1.9 60's.

The quicker you go the worse it gets too. I ran an 11.77@123.7mph w/ a 1.8 60' compared to a RWD car (on the same timeslip) which ran an 11.87@117.1mph w/ a 1.6 60'

Haha, a 97 eh, my bud had a 96 and his first few runs at the track were 15.9, 15.7, 15.7, 15.2.
Then he got some tires like we told him to and the best he ever ran was a 14.4 in about 50 degree weather and he modded the car as you yunguns say.
I had a 87 with a little 350 I built that had 903 heads(smog), 9.5:1 compression, a 280/480 hydraulic cam, and 4.56 gears and I had no trouble at all with the new LS1 cars. Overrated.
It ran a best of 12.85 and I had about $2000 total in the car.

I am only slightly modded and run a 13.17 @ 103 (14.1 when it was stock), When I go to the track and get put against an SRT-4 I never know what is going to happen, if it's stock I win if not I loose, it seems to be a crap shoot because you never know... But that is the fun of this sport I guess...
