RE: Fastest small block Mirada
i googled his name, and it came up with 10.80-11.25...but i cant find any info about the car, other than the fact that it is an 80 mirada
in 2001 he ran the IHRA empire nationals, and on an 11.85 index, ran a 31.343...im guessing that something broke..later in the weekend he got into the mid 11s...and lost in the second round with an 11.53 on an 11.45 dial...
then in 2002 he appears to have jumped out of the mirada..
Gregory Gay, Westminster, Vt., '97 Dakota, GT/TA, 10.048, -1.122
and the same vehicle in 2003, but in 2003, he was running 11.teens

Whoops, my bad, forgot to post the E.T.
I was looking for info on fast Dodge trucks in SS and Stock eliminator and was checking out the record holders.
I noticed the Mirada and remembered you looking for the fastest one with a smallblock,
I'm not sure if the Mirada came with a 400, if not I would think it was the smallblock.
Although in some classes of Super Stock, they are allowed to change the engine.
Did you see the Big Block Mirada in the latest issue of Mopar Muscle?

MAybe this is old information, but he listed a 440 engine in this posting at Dragtimes.com. It would be a feat indeed to get a stock bodied Mirada into the 10's with a smallblock. I'm not saying impossible, but it would be amazing.

todd, that mirada is the guy who lives by us, and i have taken a ton of pictures of the car...
greg gay must have had a power adder, or some SERIOUS weight reduction. I do know that around columbus ohio there is a mirada painted like the old wayne county PS cars, and he had the floor pan and everything lightened...full lexan..so on...i wonder if perhaps that may have been greg gay's car at one point?
but without SIGNIFICANT weight reduction, I would have to see a small block car run without the bottle or some forced induction...my car weighted somewhere around 4000 lbs prior to my weight reduction, and he has to have alot of safety items like a roll cage that add weight...this is from race-cars.net
im certainly not saying that it isnt possible, but that would be one Bad small block

Your mirada weighs about 4000 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 10.80 seconds. That means that you've got about 627.59 HP at the wheels, and about 815.87 HP at the flywheel.

According to the classification guide, his engine uses a factor of 273 hp, and pounds per hp is 12.85, which comes out to 3508# race weight.
I'm not sure about SS/MA engine mods, but to run 10.80 in a 3500# car you need around
505 at the wheels.
I don't think a 630 hp smallblock is out of the question. Say ported W-2's a roller cam, 13.5:1 compression, etc...
