Default CASCAR Racing...

A doubt many know about CASCAR... so I thought I would post some stuff about it... it is probably in my opinion a little more fun to watch than Cup, because of the cars they use and the courses they run, but here check it out...

Our History:
Established in 1981,CASCAR (Canadian Association for Stock Car Racing) is the governing body for amateur and professional stock car racing in Canada. Today it boasts the highest level of stock car racing in the nation, and sanctions Canada’s premier (and only national) stock car racing series, the CASCAR Super Series.

The formal establishment of CASCAR by President Anthony (Tony) Novotny fundamentally moved stock car racing in Canada from a position of fractured, loosely structured regional racing, to that of a national and progressive organization who’s member drivers and teams compete before thousands of fans across the country.

CASCAR continues to grow, through both healthy economies and recessionary periods. Canada’s top teams, drivers, racing facilities, corporate partners, and fans together comprise the family of support that keeps CASCAR strong and allows the sport to grow.

Mr. Novotny and his team continue to propel CASCAR into the future. CASCAR remains positioned as Canada’s only national stock car racing organization, and continues to operate the largest and richest of all Canadian racing programs today.

OUR TEAM:

Tony Novotny – President
Tony Novotny founded the Canadian Association for Stock Car Auto Racing in 1981. Prior to CASCAR there was no professional touring series in Canada, and late model racing was fragmented throughout race tracks across the country. Novotny brought stability and consistency to the sport, which started at Delaware Speedway - a track that Novotny operated from 1979 to 2000. This is why Delaware Speedway is regarded as the home of CASCAR.

Tony started his working career as a welder/ fabricator and then became a proprietor of a speed shop, racing wheel manufacturer and racing tire distributor business. He currently owns and operates a fiberglass production shop, which is the sole supplier of stock car bodies to CASCAR, and also produces other diversified fiberglass products.

Linda Novotny - Vice President
Linda Novotny, wife of Tony, has acted as vice president of CASCAR since Tony and Linda restructured the company in 2001. Linda manages the merchandise and apparel programs for CASCAR, including managing the merchandise trailers that travel across the country with the CASCAR Super Series. Linda also assists with the administration of the company.

Bob Ennis - Director of Western Operations
Navy veteran and hydraulic expert Bob Ennis has been involved with CASCAR for more than a decade and oversees operations for the western series. Bob has a broad range of duties from managing sponsor relationships to dealing with track promoters and competitors, to public relations, and to being the trackside announcer for the western series events.

Richard Coughlin, Director of Sales & Marketing
Richard has a traditional marketing background, primarily in the pharmaceutical industry, and joined CASCAR at the beginning of 2002. His mandate is to expand sponsor involvement in the series, and to expand the industry base that is involved in CASCAR.

Christina Hughes – Competition Administrator
Christina is a 16-year veteran of CASCAR, having worked at Delaware Speedway prior to and during that time. She is the general office administrator, including co-ordination of race track event scheduling and competitor registrations, annual team membership registration including assignment of car numbers, organizes and implements contingency programs including decal placement on the racecars. Christina tabulates and records points and special award recipients per event for the CASCAR Super Series, Western Series and CARQUEST Sportsman Series, as well as many other office-related duties.

Brian Thomas - National Technical Director
Former racecar owner, mechanic and driver, Brian Thomas worked as technical inspector at Delaware Speedway intermittently from 1979 until 1996, at which time Brian became a full time employee of CASCAR. Brian worked in the automotive industry since 1966 in various capacities and continues to hold an automotive technicians license.

Family Entertainment is the Real business of CASCAR:
The real business of CASCAR is family entertainment, and our entertainment medium is stock car racing. CASCAR racing is showcased at racing facilities across Canada, on national and regional television and radio, the Internet, in motorsport trade and mainstream print media, at trade and consumer shows, at corporate functions, mall shows, charitable events and an ever-growing number of promotional initiatives. Our events, along with these off-track initiatives, give CASCAR (and our associated business partners) year round exposure.

Our flagship racing program is the annual 12 event CASCAR Super Series, which visits tracks all across Canada, from Quebec to British Columbia. CASCAR also sanctions two other racing series, the CASCAR CARQUEST Sportsman Series (in Ontario and Quebec) and the CASCAR EMCO Western Series (in Western Canada). With more than 150 member teams, CASCAR racing delivers an exciting entertainment package to fans all across Canada, both at the track and on television.

CASCAR Racing is Big Business!
Auto racing enjoys wide appeal as exciting family entertainment, and the corporate world has long known that integrating marketing and sales strategies through motorsport programs (stock car racing in particular) has proven to be an extremely powerful method of reaching and communicating with their target customers. As such, CASCAR and our member teams enjoy strong business relationships with many leading Canadian and international business organizations whose names and logos grace the fenders and hoods of our competitor’s cars. These relationships generate the economic strength of the Series, which helps build the sport for our teams, drivers, sponsors, partnering tracks, and fans.

The CASCAR brand of stock car racing also, in turn, has a decidedly positive economic impact on the Canadian economy in terms of generating tax dollars, and full and part time job creation. Our three traveling Series impact positively on numerous business sectors including, Travel & Tourism, Food & Beverage, Hotel & Restaurant, Print & Electronic Media Advertising, the service sector, fabricating and manufacturing, and many others. Through benefiting from CASCAR activities, many members of these business sectors are in turn enthusiastic supporters and advocates of CASCAR.

Future Prospects are Bright:
Stock car racing continues to gain popularity, dislodging traditional stick and ball forms as North America’s chosen form of sports entertainment. Increased awareness of the enormous business opportunities associated with the motorsport industry has not gone unnoticed in Canada. More fans than ever are tuning in to race telecasts and turning up at racing events. This increased fan interest generates more corporate interest, which in turn pushes the teams, venues, and media to new levels of participation. All over North America, the expansion of existing facilities, and the building of new motorsport venues, is just more evidence that this growth trend continues. With this growing popularity of CASCAR racing, an ever-increasing demand for CASCAR events, and the continuing expansion of corporate involvement with our CASCAR teams, the future prospects for CASCAR look extremely bright.

We continue to form strategic alliances, and we work in close partnership with all of our family of CASCAR sponsor partners. We are positioned, and ready, to take full advantage of this dynamic opportunity and carry our partners in the business world with us to the highest levels of success, well into the future. Our marketing team is ready to show you why you might wish to join our family. A phone call (416.531.4714) or email ([email protected]) to Richard Coughlin is the place to start.

DaimlerChrysler campaigns the Intrepid in this series... however since the Intrepid is badged as a Chrysler there and Dodge does sponser the races, it is named just the Intrepid.

Ford campaigns a Ford Taurus just like in cup, but as you can tell, it shares a lot of looks with the ARCA Series cars.

Chevrolet does the same with the Monte Carlo, also notice the similar ARCA looks.

A few teams still run older Grand Prix models.

They use the streets of Toronto for a road course, many NASCAR fans are wishing NASCAR would do the same there as well.

I've watched the CASCAR races from time to time. Unlike NASCAR, the Intrepids actually look like Intrepids and not Fords.

If you get a chance, Speedvision covers the series. It used to be shown in the winter here. The MoPars are more competative than in NASCAR for sure. The series is also more grass roots.
