05srt4 vs. 96 mustang cobra
ORIGINAL: FnfastSS
I do have to make one comment though...11.4 @ 118???? What do you do when you get 3/4's of the way down the track...throw out an anchor? I am chipping 116 @ 12.5. Either you are bs'ing it..or you have drag radials and are bouncing off the limiter half way down the track aha
RRRR matey...mr collin's you swab the deck...mr tarkins get ready with the anchor matey....

116 mph is a solid 11.7 run in a car that is set up properly with a decent driver.
Now, I know that you probably are ok at driving, probably doing the best you can, but you don't have enough gear in your car, that's why you are only running a 12.5et and have an 11 second mph.
Don't worry though, you'll have plenty opportunity to change them if you're still running that stock rear end, as it will soon fail.
As for my Roadrunner, I'll admit that I'm using obsolete parts in the car, but that is the challenge for me. My heads were cast in 1965 and are one of the worst castings out there. It's cool to take parts that others can't get to work and beat them with it in a heavier car.
If you spent as much time at the track as you would like me to believe, you would know that mid 11 second cars run around 116 to 120 mph depending on the combo. Like BadStrat said, your 60' time must be tragic, sort of like pulling an Anchor for the first 1/4 track eh, matey?
I build Chevies too, I just sold my 3200# 70 Camaro that I built, it was a pump gas 454 that ran 10.80@ 125 at 4800ft density altitude.
My 3800# 1951 Chevy Pickup has a 400 smallblock and runs 10.50's, but it's a high compression beast.
Earlier you also stated " Everything can be chalked up tp "driver error" when it comes to slow times...but thats the point of haveing a FAST car...no matter who is driving it should be fast. If you have to get a perfect launch..hit perfect gears...get perfect traction...to run low 13's...you should probably invest somemore money into your car.
Oh... and a stock 96 mustang cobra ran 14.1's. "
You seem like an ill informed magazine reader, slow times can be attributed to track conditions such as track preparation, weather, and altitude. Not just driving skills.
I could run an 11.18 at Sears Point in 60f temperature, then pack up and go to Bandimere Speedway and run 11.78, all due to the altitude. Throw in 100+ degree weather and I'm in the 12's.
96 Cobra?? So what times does a stock 96 Mustang Cobra run at LACR in Palmdale when it is 82 degrees and the barometric pressure is 29.2 inches of mercury with relative humidity at 48%?
I don't know everything, but I know a little about drag racing and building engines.
So the next time you hint at me talking B.S., have your own pile of **** together ok? Thanks!
ewwww...poor mopar...did someone strike a nerve???
In regards to track times I was refering to the difference in times between runs and at the same track...nothing like putting words in my mouth so you have something to argue about huh?
poor fella needs something to pick on me about because hims fellin's are hurt
And anyone who knows...in order to get a 12.5 from a bolt on LS1 car...you have to drive your *** off...period. It is called my LS car gets moving around 60mph and pulls harder and harder from there on out..so I gather momentum down the track..that explains the high MPH e.t, so assuming I have an 11 second car but can't drive?...come on now buddy...seriously you built your car..your smarter than that. You just rattled off all these conditions for varying times and mph...but mine is from driving error? I think you are doing some wishful thinking...
All I was saying is your car obviously slows down once rolling and gets most of it's speed down low...not saying its slow, just saying to get an 11.4 @ 118 you must hole shot alot faster than you pick up speed once rolling.
I would love to race you on the highway to prove my point, say from 100-170. Oh wait thats right...you are driving a 475 horsepower brick that can't hit 170.

FnfastSS, are you retarded? because you sure are acting ignorant.
I was kidding you about your driving and gave you the exact reason why you run a 12.5 @ 118, it's because you don't have enough gear, you clearly have the WRONG combination for optimum 1/4 mile performance. It is more a highway car.
But, you did a fine job, who care's about dragracing anyway right?
It's no surprise that you would challenge me to a highway race, in your eyes it's the only chance you have, but in my eyes, you are just another victim. In other words, since you are into oceanographic metaphors, I am a Shark with Lasers and you are an ill tempered Sea Bass! Thanks again matey!

One more thing FNfastSS, you stated:
"All I was saying is your car obviously slows down once rolling and gets most of it's speed down low...not saying its slow, just saying to get an 11.4 @ 118 you must hole shot alot faster than you pick up speed once rolling. "
I shift to 2nd and 3rd at 6500 and go through at 6600, accelerating the whole time, but the rate of accelleration slows as you change gears. The car does not slow down, just the rate of acceleration.
Now, on to the next free lesson, go ahead and post now so that I can correct you, really, this is too easy.
By The way, here is a video for you, maybe you can beat this:

well, im perfectly aware of what an LS1 car can do when properly driven, and i know several guys who have no problem getting into the 11s with a 116 mph trap time. you should find someone who knows how to launch your car for you..it should run 11s...
and for the record, 12.5 isnt "FN fast"...
and for the record, 12.5 isnt "FN fast"...
Just chill austin (mopar)...I am only teasing with you buddy...you know stirring up the poop. I'm not trying to be offensive. Just starting conversation with someone who is actually knowledge able
Just figured it's the guys who know what they are talking about that are the easiest to rile up
And yes..I am retarded
but not that retarded...I know you would kill me quatermile. No secret there...
Besides I have a bolt on 350 and 3:42's, what do you expect from an ill tempered sea bass?
But are you trying to tell me your charger, geared for the quartermile..will hit 170?? If you are...you should change "shark with laser" to "seacucumber with flashlight"
A 69 charger that ways how much? Shaped like a brick (although I think a brick produces less drag)...and hits 170? Tell us another story Aesop...eww the one where you slayed the dragon with a stapler...thats a good one.
(ps...i am only trying to get your goat man...teasing lightens things up..it was getting too heated in here)

12.5 isn't fnfast? well maybe..but I am sure when the stage three comes out and the SRT4 are touching 12.5...all you will here is how "fnfast" they are....
besides you have "badstratrt"...come on...a stratus? I think I saw a grocery getter forum somewhere on the internet...maybe they are looking for more members
hahahaha
See mopar!!! bad gets it!...it's all in fun man. I have someone slower than me giving me crap...I am ok with it.

one of my cars is a stratus...the other car would dust you pretty easily...my username is pretty obviously a joke.
and do you really know that little about cars? the stage 3 has been out for a while now, and anyone who knows how to drive with a stage 3 (which isnt always the case) can get into the deep 12s/high 11s with that amount of work...unless they drive like you and can only muster mid 12s with a 116 mph trap speed...
i ran 12.50s with a trap speed in the 106-107 range, but i know how to drive...
