from a 30 roll go on 3 honks im in my friends srt riding shotgun the sti is by himself.sti claim to be putting out 400hp i dont see it.It was even to about 50 then the srt started pulling and end up beating him by a car it was crazy seems like he missed a gear or something but we pulled over in a parking lot and he didnt say he missed a gear so i guess he just excepted the loss. From a dig im sure it would of been tough.

The STi's and the SRT-4's actually have pretty close to the same horsepower when you dismiss the 230 rated horsepower lie slapped on them, they dyno that much and more at the wheels which is close to the same the STi's have at the wheels. The STi is a little more powerful though. The main difference between the two are their weight and drivetrain, the SRT-4 is lighter but the STi is AWD. They both turn around the same speed throught the 1/4 mile, but the STi will always be there first due to it's AWD. It is a different story from a roll though as the SRT-4's lighter weight and smaller turbo gain back the edge and the STi having an even bigger than stock turbo makes it fall behind more due to greater turbo lag. Stock vs. stock the STI owns the bottom end, both are even in the mid range and the SRT-4 has the top end.
One of my "gang members" ('05 SRT-4 w/CAI and cat-back) whooped a '05 STi from a dig then a 40mph roll. But the kid in the STi supposedly can't drive...so I guess that explains it?

if i may...this STi is supposed to have an upgraded turbo kit from greddy, i would think that if properly tuned, it should make short work of an srt4 with those mods...
It all depends on what gear they were in and how far or to what speed they ran up to. The larger turbo will lag more and if it isn't spooled up quick enough, if he's not turning enough RPM's when they started and between shifts, will make it harder to win. Not being sure of what all is done to the STi makes it hard to say for certain why he lost. If he shifted too early it will take longer to build the boost back up and if he waited too long to shift he may have hit the limiter and the boost and all got cut making it fall on it's face.
How far or to what speed did the two run from the 30 MPH roll?

true, but if we are to assume that this person is running some monster turbo like a GT35R...and the proper supporting mods, all of the turbo lag in the world shouldnt make it a close race...
