new best time...
So, with the season winding down, and the life of my 8.5 to 1 340 getting very short before the impending rebuild with some new items (
) the mirada managed a 1.67 short time in route to a 12.62 @ 104.83...but its still gotten fairly tired...so once the demon is up and around, the mirada will get what i have tucked away...
it wasnt an especially exciting weekend, but its nice when the first run off the trailer (always my slowest) was only 2 tenths slower than my old best...and each run got better...
i trounced a bunch of much slower cars, including a fairly impressive denali pickup running 13.80s...

however, the mirada probably isnt going to get torn apart until the demon is at least up and running...which is why i dont like to talk about it much, because i dont have any idea when we are going to do it.

...but i have a set of 13 to 1 pistons and a small stroker kit for the mirada...should give it a little more spunk than the 8 to 1 setup...

Yea, but it's still a MoPar, so it's not gonna be that fast...

Sorry I've been away for awhile and theres been no one to bust your chops about 'slow' MoPars. [8D]
Congrats on the times. That's a great 60'. Define a 'small' stroker kit haha. Can't wait to see what you got in the works. I'm actually contemplating putting a bigger motor in my car, but am having some huge clutch problems so I'm gonna wait to see what she'll do when I can actually launch teh car without frying the clutch. Did you always ahve teh Demon? What year is it?

the demon was acquired in mid september...its a rolling chassis right now, but the engine has been sent to the machine shop. its going to be a daily driver, with a mild motor...our goal was to put the mirada motor into the demon, and build a new motor for the mirada, but instead, we are using a short block that ive had laying around for a while, and leaving the 340 in the mirada...for now. id like the demon to run in the 13s with just the 2500 stall and 391 gears...although i have lots of other gear sets, so we may go bigger..but streetability is my biggest concern. its going to be a street car, and i will probably make a few trips down the track to see what it can do...i was thinking about changing it over to a manual car, but i already have two auto trannies laying around, and i have none of the parts for the manual conversion.
here are some pictures of when it was picked up..

the "small stroker" kit is going to put us around 374 cubic inches...or so says the book for a 30 over 340.

and hows the demon resto coming along? i remember you posting when you got it and it looks sweet and in very good condition.
i dont know how i misse your questions...my mistake.
when we started out with the mirada, our goal was 14s. then 13s...then 12s...now its 11s. the car is so heavy, we are getting to the point that it will take a tremendous increase in power to go a little faster..i DONT want to put a cage in it, so 11.50s would be the cut off, but im almost a second from that. it will be interesting to see what the stroker kit and the compression hacks off the time...
the demon is just sitting around, really. the next time that amanda and i go to pittsburgh we are going to dig through the endless boxes of stuff that came with it and see what we really have. we now have a bottom end for the demon, and we already had a top end, so its just a matter of assembling it now. we have also ordered the trans rebuild kit, and bob george of bob george racing will be rebuilding the trans for us, and once the motor is done, we will be ready to get the demon out of storage and put the motor and trans in, and the next step is the brake lines. once that is done, we will need to install the shifter, but then it will be technically driveable. once it can move under its own power, we will need to check on things like the condition of the rear diff, the condition of the braking system, suspesion, etc. we are REALLY hoping to have the demon ready for the mopar nationals and the woodward dream cruise...
