Well I was on my way home and Im getting on the parkway and theres a Gti 1.8t in front of me so I floor it and pass him all the way upto 80 and put it in cruise. At this time he wasnt racing. But then all of a sudden he came flying up next to me and he started laughing and he gave me thumbs down. That got me a little pissed. So I slowed down to about 65 and so does he and then I down shift and so does he and I jumped ahead by one car and he couldnt pull on me it was like that to about 100 then I put my flashers on at him just to get back at him for givin me thumbs down and as I was slowin back down he floored and went flyin by.I just started laughin as he did his ricer fly by. But he wasnt done yet then we both get stopped at a light, which I was happy about and we both started out slow he floored it first then I did I pulled on him real hard and we were both even at 50 then I got ahead at 75 and at about 95 he gained a little bit more, finally the race stopped at 115 with me about 1/2 a car ahead. Does anyone know what a stock Gti 1.8t runs. I didnt think I wouldve kept up let alone beat the guy and all I have is a AEM CAI.

He must not have known how to drive, he should have spanked you. What year was it? The GTI 1.8T has your SXT beat in every possible way except weight. Here are the stats on a new GTI 1.8T:
Base Price: $18,910
Weight: 2,890 LBS.
Horsepower: 180 HP @ 5,500 RPM
Torque: 174 LB-FT @ 1,950-5,000 RPM
Horsepower As Tested: 171 WHP @ 6,300 RPM
Torque As Tested: 179 WLB-FT @ 2,900 RPM
Performance:
0-60 MPH: 7.5 sec.
1/4 Mile: 15.5 sec. @ 91.8 MPH
Lateral Grip: .85g
Slalom Speed: 65.7 MPH
Stopping Distance 60-0 MPH: 129 FT
So as you can see, either he doesn't know how to driver or it's an older and lesser performing GTI.[sm=smiley2.gif]

I haven't driven the GTI 1.8T, but I have driven the GTI VR6 and it has some pretty good pep to it. I'm kinda surprised you beat it as well, nice job either way. With your CAI you'd probably be lucky to pull a 15.9 in the quarters, so he probably didn't know how to drive. I see it happen a lot with people who have nice cars, but they don't know how to drive them! HAHA. At least you know how to drive yours!
