Towing??
I am an avid Ram fan so don't misunderstand me. But! I came here hoping to hear about towing capacity etc with the Eco Diesel and about all I see here is problems with engine light ( which would be aggravating) and fuel mileage. While the mileage is great how long will it take to offset the thousands more the EcoDiesel costs? Especially for someone driving on an average 15,000 a yr? I own an 18 Ram 1500 5.7. tows my travel trailer (about 6,000 lbs) like a scalded dog. I set cruise on 70 so I don't find myself at 80 on the interstate. I get good mileage if I stay around 70 when not towing 18-20 and towing 60 or under is best but it still thinks I'm wealthy!! 7-9mpg MAX.
Considering getting a larger 5th wheel camper and considering what do I want for a bigger truck. Cummins, Eco diesel (3/4 ton) or considering the price of these diesels get the 6.4 gas engine?? Thanks for any opinions...

cummins is a much better engine than the eco-diesel.
early eco diesels had many failures. any big repair work requires cab removal.
gas vs diesel. ..any money you save in fuel will be offset by repairs. There isn't one manufacturer not having problems with diesel dpf, scr or def after treatment. cold climate regions seem to create more problems imo. if you only keep your vehicles for the warranty period get a diesel. if you keep you vehicle long after warranty expires get a gasser.

thanks! Another way to look at it entirely. I always thought the main reasons for going diesel was longetivity, fuel mileage and towing. While the Echo seems to be great mileage, does it tow much if any better than my hemi? I know mileage isn’t great in any of the big diesels unless you delete this, delete that. Plus the Cummins is a $9000 upgrade.....I’ll stick with the hemi, if 3/4 ton the 6.4. I can still buy a lot of fuel for $9000!
