Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default Ram charger at a standstill

Ayo amigos, I’m kinda drawing a blank with my 88 rc and im out of ideas. Pulled the battery off it a week ago to do some work on a box Chevy, put it back on the truck, drive maybe a block and it died out on me. Thought it was the fuel pump so I changed it but still nothing. By now I’ve changed the starter relay, asd relay, ignition coil, pickup coil and even ran a hot wire to the pump to bypass the old. Pump comes on now, but truck only turns over, any ideas?

Any codes? Does the check engine light come on when you turn the ignition key to on? Did you happen to see if it has spark?

Are you saying it didn't come on before?

so the check engine light was on before all this came to be but it’s still on. It so it does have spark, it’ll start for about two seconds then die. Like I can give it gas when it does run for that short period of time and it’ll rev up but soon dies like something’s killing it off

That's throttle body injection, isn't it? Can you see what fuel pressure is doing??

What year is it? Does it have the crank sensor as well? Probably not too difficult, might need a different intake, and then the electronic ignition stuff..... (distributor, smart box, etc.) Question becomes, 3 or 4 speed auto? Locking torque converter? Those would complicate things some.

oh ****, I haven’t even thought of the crank sensor, now that I think about it, it was making a clicking sound from time to time when i moved it, I thought it was just the pickup coil(it was crusty af) I’ll have to see what changing that does tomorrow! It’s a three speed, from what I understand it’s completely stock, so I wouldn’t assume it’s a locking converter but that’s good to know for sure

Throttle body injection doesn't have a crank sensor, It does have a pick up coil but all that is for is running the ignition. You may want to take off the air cleaner and shine a light down the throttle body(while it's running). Look to see if both injectors are spraying. Also how is the idle motor? When they start to have issues they cant keep up with the motor running(not adjusting fast enough). Keep your foot on the gas a bit above idle and see what happens.
