Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default 1986 ram charger royal se 318 small block.

Hello im looking for help with a couple issues with a new project. I have a 86 ramcharger royal se with a 318 small block.
the main issue is the gas pedal is stiff. The springs that were put on as well as the way the brackets were installed so not look correctly. They line up at a slant and no matter how i adjust it it just seems wrong.

Also the left side of the carb has [ what i think they are called] ports for lines. I tried using google and some manuals but to no actual answer.

In the photo that i have my finger on is free trying to figure out what it is.

Does the throttle move freely without the spring? Does that port have vacuum at idle or when you hit the throttle? Do you have the vac advance on the distributor hooked up?

Yes the throttle moves freely. Also i do t know about the vac line that you asked about. Is it where my finger is pointing to ?

I will be checking on those things this week. Im picking up some newer headers and some caps for the open lines. Thank you for the advice.

The distributor needs vac at higher rpm where the others have vac at idle. By the looks of it i would sat that port has vac at idle. It should be capped if not used.

The return spring is too short. It's stretched too far. You can get a pack of springs and replace it until you find one that is comfortable. The secondary spring in case the main spring breaks isn't even hooked up.

I was messing with the springs using some other photos off Google to try and see where they went. There are 2 holes on the bracket motor mount . One close one about 2inches back. Is one hole for one spring or for both?

Just had a different issue and wanted to know if it was normal. I bought some used headers. While unbolting the passenger side one of the bolt holes leaked some coolant. It was under a cups worth volume wise but still did not expect it.
Is this normal ? It was on the bolt closet to the alternator.

Generally, ya don't see coolant coming out of exhaust bolt holes..... If you haven't been losing any coolant otherwise, just put some sealer on that bolt when you put it back together.

So i have plugged the port and i have been told the bolt in the header is normal . Also the bolt in the throttle slide [kickdown] is not supposed to be there. So i took that out and there is some more play.
