Default Brake Calipers - 93' Dakota

The front brake calipers (backs are drums) are original on my 93' Dakota. I am the original owner and there are 172,000 miles on my truck. I am going to do new pads, cylinders, rotors drums, n hardware in the Spring. Contemplating putting new calipers in too. Doesn't appear very expensive after getting core charge refunded. They seem to be working perfectly fine but if I'm gonna do a complete brake job then I may as well go all the way, right?

Thoughts?

Add in all hoses.

I'd also consider painting the new calipers with caliper paint ... but that's me.

(Next ones on my Dakota will be gloss black.)

By "all hoses" I mean the two front AND the rear; at 26 years old, that rubber is starting to fail.

Ralph, are those fabricated lines or are they bulk hose? Do you know off the top of your head?

I was just going to rebuild my calipers with a $7 seal kit but it turned out entirely impossible to get the seals to set correctly while pushing the piston in. Looking online it seems that I'm not the only one. I've rebuilt calipers before but these were a different beast. So needless to say I bought new calipers and haven't looked back. Good idea IMO with that many miles.

Those are premade hoses with all the fittings and female threads to fasten the hard lines. The rear may also come with the plastic clips for the axle vent hose. You can get them on rockauto.com or any parts store.

Hey TB, I looked at Advanced Auto and they don't carry the brake line parts for my Dodge. I haven't looked elsewhere.

I contemplated rebuilding my own calipers but then I looked at the cost of buying them and think this is the way to go for the reason you gave. Buying them is not expensive and I know I wont have to deal with corrosion, fitment, and other issues.

Thanks for your input. UPDATE: Found them on Rock Auto. Thanks again! Recommend a particular brand??

Well, I said "hose", not "line".

I like Wagner, Rockauto, ACDelco, and Mopar personally.

Line and Hose aren't quite interchangeable; line is the hard copper, hose is the flexible portion.

The point is, you won't find brake LINES preset for our trucks, but you'll find brake HOSES
