RE: Special Buy On Throttle Bodies From THE FASTMAN!
I was just turned on to this special offer. I have been watching the Fastman's website for a long time now making sure he's still making those bada$$ TBs and not racing all the time. If the offer is still good let me know and I'll sign up and maybe get some others.
Testimony...
Friend with a 1999 4x4 318 added a 50mm Fastman TB (which he already had an exhaust upgrade) and had this to say, "In everyday normal driving I was getting 12.7 (with larger tires, 33" I think). Install the TB, loaded down the truck for a cross country move and averaged 13.7 MPG on an 1100 mile trip through the resent hurricane in Florida, so high winds and lots of rain (he built a custom rack to fit into his receiver hitch to hold his 36" superswamper, 600lbs tire and rack)." I talked to him last night and he said so far (after driving with the truck empty) he is getting 14.3 to 14.5 MGP. Of course he's gained lots of power all across the rpm range.
One thing to keep in mind with add/upgrading the TB. If you increase the amount of air that can go into an engine (like going to a bigger TB) you will also have to upgrade/increase the amount of air the engine can get (as in installing a less restrictive air intake) and removing the used air out of the engine faster (as in high flow cat, less restrictive muffler).
If you just added the TB you'll see a difference, but not the full potential!!!

RE: Special Buy On Throttle Bodies From THE FASTMAN!
hey amanda i have a list of mods i want to get done to upgrade the performance on my 5.9 and am in the process of scraping together money to start getting it all done, would this be a good first mod for my truck? i want to get a CAI next but as of now i pretty much have a stock 5.9 and was wondering if i would notice gains on the stock or if i should go and upgrade other stuff before coming back and replacing the throttle body..
also ive never really done anything on the inside on my truck and was wondering if this would be posible for someone who oesn't know much about trucks to install by himself, i have a mechanic for a neighbor but if posible id like to do this by myself for the sense of accomplishment and stuff.
thanks for the reply :-)
