Error codes PO500, PO731, PO700
I have a 1999 plymouth Voyager 3.3 Auto4 spd with 190,000 miles. Speedometer stopped working so I scanned the computer and came up with 3 codes. MIL did come on. I understand that PO500 is the vehicle speed sensor. How dificult is it to change and where is it located? What would the other 2 codes mean? It seems to be going into reverse a little harder then normal. Fluid is ok. No leaks. No unusual noises. I expected this to happen sooner or later. Any help? Thx

replace the output speed sensor on you 4 speed trans, 3.3 engines only have 4 speed tansmissions. The output sensor is localed next to the transfer gear. Or if you are looking the two sensors, it would be the one on the right.

Your transmission is going into limp-in or fail safe mode. P0500 = speed signal, P700 = PCM has a transmission code in the EATX controller, and P0731= Gear ratio error in 1st. Replace the output speed sensor and clear the codes.

I had the output speed sensor replaced and it cleared all 3 codes. It seems to cause a lot of problems when this sensor goes bad. So yes would be the answer.
