Default P0036 02 Durango 4.7

Hi, we have a P0036 DTC on our 2wd 2002 Durnago 2wd 4.7L automatic

I have talked to a couple sources and I think it is the Driver's side after cat sensor, however, 1 of the sources I talked to said it was completely opposite and was the passenger side before cat....

so i am not sure what i am dealing with....

a source also told me that there is no P0036 on Dodge? that there is only a P0032 or a P0037? any help on that?

I borrowed a Actron code scanner from autozone

the P0036 said that it is a bank 1 sensor 2

bank 1, sensor 2 is the driver's side after cat according to the service dept @ my local dodge dealer.....

is P0036 a valid code? and is it bank 1, sensor 2?

If p0036 were not a valid code you would not be reading it. You seem to be questioning wether or not bank 1 sensor 2 is indeed the driver side after the cat even after the dealer verified what i said. here's another way, unplug that sensor, you will get a p0036 plus additional codes and they will also say bank 1 sensor 2.

whoever told you that Chrysler does not use p0036 apparently does not have the correct info, i havea haynes manual for durango 00 thur 03 and it does not list a p0036, this is not a publication produced by Chrysler and does not contain all data. so i had to look it up else where.

i did question it because of the varying information i was told by several parts stores [even a very knowledgeable one that is very good, (but not all sales associates are equal however)]

i wasn't questioning you, in fact, it was your information that gave methe original info, and what i was trying to fight the parts store guys for.... your information when i went to dodgeto confirm.... i actually had to help theparts guy out, he made a tech go look it up

i am actually glad to hear that is is a p0036 and it is a valid code....the autozonei went to said it isnt a valid code andanother store saidhe wouldnt trust an autozone code reader.....

i am the kind of guy that isnt a doubtful person, but i need to make dang sure i know what i am getting into.....

JEFF, I THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP ON THIS

No problem, you just sounded unsure. What is the model number of the scanner you got from autozone? I have a Actron CP9180 bought at autozoneand can acually read the voltage of the O2 sensors with it.

i dont know the model number.... its jsut something i walked into the store and said, hey do you have one i can borrow for 5 minutes and they let me go outside with it, i cleared the code, and went back inside....

they said they rent them out for a $165 deposit..... basically, if you steal it or break it, you bought it... but when you bring it back, they give you back your $165
