Default 2000/ Lights go out with High Beams

Hello everyone,

I have a 2000 Durango R/T and when I turn on the regular lights, everything is ok.

When I turn on the fog lights, everything works ok, But, the highbeam dummy light is lit at half brightness.

When I click on the high beams, the driving lights, and fog lights go out.

parking lights stay on....

Any Ideas?

thanks, Frank

I'm not sure on what years, if it was all, but it is normal that if you have the fog lights on and turn on or flash the brights, they go out. There is a fix for it, I'll have to search for it again.

The fogs turn off automatically with highbeams. Your high beam filaments may have burned out although it is usually the low beam filaments that go out first. If you pull the bulbs out you can look at them to see if the burned out. Also if you have a multimeter you can test for continuity across the terminals on the ohm setting.

Here you go to fix it so your fog lights stay on with high beams.

Run a jumper in the fuse for the Foglights.

What's the green wire go to in the relay spot next to the jumper there?

The fog lights have a fuse/circuit breaker still right right? I'm not at my D or my comp to check it out right now...

It's not a picture of mine, I just found it for quick reference. I wanna say, because of his mods, it may be for his Viper fan.

something is going on. why would the high beam indicator come on(half brightness) when I turn on the fogs?

and the indicator is normal brightness when I attempt to put on high beams.

I will check, but I think it is unlikely that both highbeams burned out at the same exact time.

Maybe the fogs do turn off with highbeams but I never noticed it before.
Not interested in fixing that if it is supposed to be like that, just want it to
work like it is supposed to.

Thanks, Frank

The fogs do turn off with the high beams and there should be no reason for the high beam indicator dimming when the switch is pulled out for the fog lights. It should be the normal brightness no matter what.

The way I read your post before was that when you switch on the high beams all lights except for your parkijng lights go out. Is that correct?

I would have to look at a wiring diagram to see what is going on with your lights if that is the case...

That is awesome!

Thanks for the pic. I've been trying to fix that for years!
