Popping out of fourth Gear,,, PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN AFTER THE OIL.. HElp
ok when accelerating when i get to 4th i have to hold it in place with alot of strength.. like its actually pulling against me extremely hard its like a workout
well you guys said check the linkage well i was under my car today and i cannot for the life of me find the linkage i know theres the ones under the center console.. so are those the ones you guys were talking about and when i do find the linkage what do i do ???
and i also have a problem with it going into reverse sometime when i put it in it doesnt engage and you can hear the tranny gears spinning then some time its a loud clunk sound

if there is nothing wrong with the linkages, not sure if they had a problem with them or not, but if the linkages are ok and everything is visible ok then I'm guessing probly a 4th gear synchronizer is going bad

the synchronizers that help mesh the gears together will get worn out and start to bevel too much and this will cause the gear to not lock in and fall back into neutral, thus you are having to hold it in gear. its an internal problem,
Its the fourth gear synchro, only does it in that gear
atleast its not the 5th and you'd have to hold it all the time

all I had to do is add 90 weight gear oil to the trans
see i thought the Manual Trans diddnt have oil or something cuz there is no oil pann or anything like the autos do... so were do i put the oil???

never was able to figure out the problem and still have no idea....
did you slam it into gear any time lately????

But How Do I know If ItS The Linkage,, cuz the linkage could look fine to me but look bad to you so when i do get to the linkage,,, what am i looking For ?? Or What Do I Do ??
i believe 97dohcknows the Problem though but ill try the gear oil if you tell me were to put it...
AND IM GLAD ITS NOT 5th!!! haha
SPUD WHY WOULDNT YOU JUST GET A NEW MANUAL TRANNY?? instead of all the work to go auto??
