Default 318 ecu run a 360?

ok so my heart in my truck is getting tired it time for a transplant. the heart i got is from a 98 2500 ram. its a 5.9l with an nv4500 trans and case. beautiful from my little dakota. now heres my question will i have to change my pcm or can i run the stock 5,2l one that comes in the dakota. i understand the major differances in the two motors is bore and stroke and a little timeing differance in the cam position. which shouldnt bare any differance because the cam crank tps iac sensors are all the same? i do believe even the injectors are the sames as well. i cant find any threads on it so i figured id ask

I've heard a lot of different answers on this and some guys say that it will make the 360 run lean and other guys said they have hooked it up to a computer and it was the same. To me I would say the fuel mapping and timing is a tad bit different. Id just get a 360 pcm and call it a day

You have to plug them in? Really? What if you cant lol I rarely ever plug mine in. If its gonna be like 0 and I have to leave at like 5 in the morning I will. In 2 years I think i've plugged it in a total of 8 times lol

I think Atthew means plug into the OBD for an emissions test. We do that here in MA as well.

The 5.2 PCM will run a 5.9. The fuel mapping is off a bit but probably nothing a tuner can't handle.

ahhhhh blonde moment! Now I look dumb haha. Yeah pa doesnt have emissions tests for them. Ny it probably doesnt matter if a truck didnt come with that stuff like my truck. Im sure only effects 07+ trucks when the epa started cracking down on them

In regards to my 93 Dodge Dakota with OBD1 I have ran a 5.9 from a 2000 Dakota RT with my 5.2 PCM. It ran fine, but was running lean and pinged like hell when pushing on the throttle hard. I wouldn't recommend it. I swapped in a Mopar High Performance PCM for a 95 Ram 5.9 along with upping my fuel pressure to match the 5.9's specs. It gave a good size increase in power. So all in all get a 5.9 PCM to run a 5.9.
