Default automatic door unlocks reprogramming

Anyone know how to reprogram the automatic door unlock system on an 06 Durango limited? I want my door locks to unlock upon the car being placed in park. Presently the doors lock upon the car starting to move. Thank you

Does your Durango have the overhead console? If so, you can do that by pressing the far left button,

Enter the vehicle and close all doors. Put on seatbelt (to avoid chiming). Put the key in the ignition and cycle the key to 'off' and 'on' four times ending in the off position. Press the drivers door lock switch to 'unlock'. A single chime shoud sound indicating the change. This is on page 18 in the manual,

Thank you. I don't have a manual. This procedure is for the automatic door locking function, or unlocking function? Thank you.

That won't set the doors to unlock upon putting the lever into "Park" position, but it will set it to unlock all doors as soon as the driver's or passenger's front door is opened.

Fascistfaction's directions are spot on, worked in the wife's 2006. You can also get a manual pretty inexpensively off of eBay, if you want it in paper form.

Thank you for your help. I have downloaded a manual, and will likely wait to see if the dealer will program this for me as I need a new instrument cluster. My illuminated entry is not working, and per the dealer needs a new cluster. They will provide same. Incidentally, I am getting great highway gas mileage with my Hemi, at least according to the computer. Appears to be about 22.5 mpg at 55 mph on cruise control. That number drops appreciably as your speed approaches 65-70.

Sorry to hear you need a new cluster.

That mileage isn't necessarily very far off, but never trust the computer's estimates of your MPG. There is only one way to truly calculate fuel mileage... miles driven divided by gallons put into the tank.

I have an '06 Durango also that i bought in '09. The locks used to unlock for me when in park and the drivers or passangers door was opened. After a few months this stopped working and I tried several times the steps on page 18 and it doesn't work. Has anyone heard of this problem? Thanks.
