Default Engine Code P0441

My check engine light just came on. I ran it by Advance Auto for them to run the scanner on it, and it came up with the code P0441. It says EVAP Emission Control System Purge Flow Fault. Any ideas on what to check for? Thanks for the help.

Could be a clogged vapor canister. I know mine is faulty. I reset the computer twice on that code (got saturated with gasoline) and it hasn't reappeared, although I plan on replacing the canister.

I work at Autozone, and I see that code all the time. Sometimes all you have to do is tighten the gas cap and reset the computer (take off the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes) and that's it

when the gas cap is loose it will cause the code P0441 to appear
always make sure you tighten the gas cap 3-5 clicks when
putting the gas cap back on.

Ck all the vacum hoses and run a evap test with a DRB3. Dealers scanner.

It will be back. I bet his vapor canister got sloshed with gasoline as well and mine. It keeps returning on mine every few thousand miles. I am going to correct the problem soon, because a failure in the EVAP/Purge system will lead to other failures.

My truck had that code a couple times last summer.

I replaced the gas cap ($13 @ the Dealer) and haven't had that since.

This drove me nuts for a while till I finally found a small crack in the end of one of the vac hoses on TOP of the fuel tank. Replaced the hose and it has never come back. Its just a matter of tracing and checking all the hoses very carfully. If not that, then may be the fuel cap or purge. I like to look at the small stuff 1st!: )

There is a recall for the evap system on some dodge trucks.. I know mine is a 96 and i have 2 recalls one for a electrical problem with the fan blower and the other is for the evap system.

pictures and discussion on P0441, P0442, P0455
evap leaks are usually cracked vac lines or loose gas cap.

Don't tell the dealer to fix anything. Tell them what the problem is, and then THEY will tell YOU what needs to be fixed.

I just got this code myself, and I just bought this truck and still have yet to have the E Test done. Instantly first thought was "Damn it O2 sensor right off the Bat FML !!" lol

After i got the code it occurred to me i had just gotten gas not 20 minutes before the Check engine light came on. I really hope it was just the loose cap , I detest tracing vac lines.
